🏞️ Elevate Your Adventure: Gear Up and Go!
The lumbar pack that started the craze in the 80s, the Day pack lives on in its modern incarnation as a favorite of hikers and outdoor-minded travelers. With a broad swath of versatile uses, this pack tends to become a cherished possession in every outdoor enthusiastâs gear closet. However, it does not stay there long as it gets used daily as a hiking pack, disc golf bag, messenger bag, office briefcase, carry on travel solution, diaper bag, and whatever you can think of. Built with ultra-durable ripstop Nylon fabric, the Day lumbar pack will become your outdoor security blanket as it logs countless miles adventuring with you around the world. Though the design honors the 40+ year history of this waist pack and has not changed much in shape, modern features make this version of the Day the best yet. We have heard this product used for just about anything including a 3 day backpacking trip in the Sierras. Where will this fanny pack take you? To bring you peace of mind for your backcountry investment, Mountainsmith offers a lifetime warranty on their products. If you have had a Day pack in your lifetime, you already know how useful it can be. If not, what are you waiting for?

Excellent company and pack that is replacing my previous pack from 1992
Excellent upgrade from my mountain smith pack used since 1992. I appreciate the back knotch pad that helps ventilate my back, the very useful and supportive side bottle holders and the number of attachments I can make to fine tune the fit.

A real workhorse
I bought this article not for hiking, but for daily use. I am a mail carrier and this pack sits behind the seat in my mail vehicle and manages my drinks, my tools, extra pens, lights, miscellaneous weather gear (neck gaiter, cleats, and gloves in the winter, cooling kerchief in summer), and my smaller hats. It goes to and from work with me every day, five or six days a week. After most of a year, it's still holding its shape, zippers still secure, bottle holders still cinching tight. This is a "tardis" container for me, holding more in its space than it seems it should. I found the original price a bit high, but it was worth every penny for the long-lasting quality.I cannot speak to the comfort as worn for hikers, but I use the shoulder strap in and out every day and it hangs from the shoulder strap in my vehicle.

All utility lumbar/backpack from city to national park
I like how it carry lower on my back (with the extra accessory strap), my upper back remain cool. I often had to carry other stuff for my kids too, this size is good for day trip. Two water bottles on the size to balance the load. Main compartment does shrink a little when all the size pocket, outter pocket is filled up. It makes it harder to find stuff when it is fully packed. That’s why I pack the frequently use item on the outer pocket. This is my 3rd one for Day lumbar pack, I had the previous 2 generation as well. I did hear people dislike the new outer sleeves vs the old style bungee cord. I haven’t had the issue with strapping wet rain jacket outside, if I have to, I can use the bottom two strap.Whenever I need to walk in the crowd and worry about pick pocket, I carry this pack on the front. It makes it semi tactical in a sense. One unofficial use is that when my little toddler was tired of walking, he/she can hop on my back and just rode on the Day back while I can easily carry that weight with the lumbar and shoulders straps support, but do this as your own risk, it is not design for carry people after all.

Waist strap is 48 inches
Only four stars on this Day Lumbar pack that holds two 32 ounce bottles that I can reach.Once I hike with it I’ll post an update. But it feels good so far. I don’t expect to put much weight in it because it’s a lumbar pack. The one star reviews saying waist strap wasn’t a full 48 inches doesn’t jive with what I received. This is a MOUNTAINSMITH DAY LUMBAR model. This won’t let me post a photo but will try later.

Best travel bag
I have used a bag similar for 10 plus years. It finally was so worn after traveling around the world several times. I am moving to Japan and had to buy a new one. The quality is incredible. I love the zipper pockets (perfect for travel). The buckle to the waist is amazing in subways, tourist spots or hiking. I wish it had a rainfly like my last one. Other than that I would recommend this bag to anyone traveling or adventuring.

Defitelt a pass on this one.
Cannot bear any weight as it rocks back and sits awkwardly on your posterior.

The Best
Not sure why there are not more options for lumbar waist packs, but this one is exactly what I wanted to replace the 40 year old LL Bean pack that took me through part of the AT and all of the New Hampshire 4000 foot peaks. It's a little bit bigger than needed, but it's light weight, has a lot of pockets, will work nicely.

As advertised.
Used for carry water bottles and needed essentials for day hikes. Has ample room a nd 2 water bottle holders on side. Like the wide belt that secures it to waist.
