Light weight but not to light. These are my husband's favorite shorts. He now has 3 pairs. Wears well and easy to wash and dry. He ordered a size larger and fits well. Ordered a size 42. 6ft 260lbs

Pockets are too shallow at the top left and right Which gives more room for the pockets below at the bottom of the pant legs, but I'd rather have bigger Pocket space up higher because putting bigger and heavier stuff in the lower pockets flops around and bangs your leg... This problem does not occur if you put big heavy stuff in the top ones that are too shallow and it's more of a center of gravity situationNice extra layer for knife clip or whatever you're putting in those pockets to the right, And sticking out with a clip as I've had plenty of pants wear out because of knife clips on and off in the same spotI suppose button could be better than velcro and snap buttons Which we have here and not the sewed on ones Which you have to stick through slots and are not as reliable long-term... They take more timeOverall, I like them... Yet would like to see these kind of pants with zippers on at least a few pockets ,especially for shallow pockets, Which in this case are too easy to lose stuff sitting down.So these shallow top pockets are more than big enough to stick extra large glove hands like I have in, but you don't need those extra 2 inches as I'd rather see that sewn upward for better keeping stuff in the pockets

The Hubster is a retired (or rather self-employed, self-driven) outdoors boy, always on the go. He tends to go through pants & shorts pretty quickly because of his life-style; and I find myself patching them to extend their wear. These were purchased specifically for his ranch & outdoor conservation work. They have ample pocket storage and are super heavy-duty. I expect they to be of the long-lasting quality that I've come to find of the Carhartt brand. (I did hem them a little shorter to customize them to his request.)

Happy with these shorts. I had to get a new pair for the summer because I had worn holes in other shorts that I'd had for a few years. I like Carhartt cargo shorts and pants. They don't last forever, but they meet my needs. I can keep all my essentials on my person at all times, which makes me feel secure. I never wonder where my wallet and keys are. Things like that. The material is lighter than previous shorts I've bought from Carhartt, but my expectations are more realistic now. Fabric does wear out over time.
