Efficient and capable gaming performer
Me, I'm still a fan of AMD although my son has switched to Intel as they provide the best gaming solutions at the moment. I've just upgraded from a Phenom X4 9650 to this. My son has just upgraded from a Bulldozer FX-6300 to Intel. I always wanted what he had, but decided on this 8-core after looking around. (I know strictly speaking it's 8 logical processors, but that's just too much of a mouthful.) I believe that it can be overclocked but I'm not going to do that, at least not yet. With the stock cooler, which let's face it doesn't look awesome, this lovely CPU runs really cool, even under stress, and certainly when compared to my previous Phenom. Matched with an Asus R9 380 4GB and an Asus M5A78L-M PLUS/USB3 and 16GB PC3-12800. Tomb Raider Legend runs beautifully at full HD with all bells and whistles enabled, one core doing 90-95 percent and another 50 percent, stock speed 3.2 GHz, showing about 3.6 GHz Turbo (up to 4 GHz available). My son says he couldn't get the torchlight effects on the FX-6300. With 4 case fans the cores are 22 degrees C at idle and non-core CPU 37 degrees. Under stress cores 42 degrees and CPU 52. Without overclocking, using the stock cooler! I'm very pleased, to put it mildly. This just has to be great value for gaming. I'm definitely going to OC a bit and may change the cooler to a Be Quiet Pure Rock Slim depending on what I find.

all i can say is i am pleased that CPU makers have made 8 cores processors that ...
i've not noticed much of a difference versus my 6300 fx amd cpu which had 6 cores. however, i have noticed faster loading, start up and gaming is still crisp. i guess i will see its true potential once i start rendering videos, editing HD capture and more cpu intensive processes. all i can say is i am pleased that CPU makers have made 8 cores processors that are 95 watt TDP. i'm not a crazy overclocker but i have heard and read that the option is available depending on cooling and motherboard utilities to overclock. no regrets so far. i wish i could have bought the 8350 but i'm on a budget an di hear that one is a beast and games like doom love it. i played teh doom demo on steam and this cpu is doing fine. i have msi after burner and will update you what readings i get when playing the DOOM demo and Titanfall 2. so far titanfall 2 at 3.2 ghz the temps were peaking 45 and averaged 34 degrees. core temps were lower. i dont have room temps but i can tell you down in brighton there is a chill in the year :) good for gaming

Good little chip
Good little chip. Runs much cooler than the old Vishera 125W chips.I run it on an Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 board, with 16GB ECC Kingston RAM. I run Server 2012R2 on the machine, with HyperV, so it works very well as a VM host. I'm using this machine as an all-purpose home server too, so it runs Plex, Sonarr, uTorrent, all that sort of stuff and it never breaks a sweat. 8 cores at 3.2GHz and the option for Plex to turbo to 4GHz means slick transcoding when I need it. Idle power consumption is much improved over the older FX chips.

so having 8 cores is absolutely perfect for this scenario
Whilst the age old debate of AMD vs Intel roars on, and Intel always pull forward on the benchmark scores, you really can't compare the value for money of AMD and Intel, as AMD shines through on value and performance.I can't really offer an opinion for desktop or gaming use as I've used this for a home server where I planned to do some virtualisation, so having 8 cores is absolutely perfect for this scenario, especially as this price point too.The CPU has performed really well on the server, and seems to run reasonably cool and power efficient also. I was concerned about the TDW and idle power usage, but it seems no worse than an average CPU/desktop to be honest, unless you do start comparing it against low power CPUs. Heat has also not been an issue, even when 4 or 5 of the cores are being hammered by my server transcoding, and the stock cooler has been fine too for me - again your mileage may vary if you're using it for gaming etc.Overall really pleased for the performance vs cost though, well worth it if you're looking for some extra oomph without killing your wallet on an Intel.

This CPU is fantastic, I upgraded from the AMD Athlon x4-860 and have seen a jump in FPS and rendering times. I've managed to overclock it to 4Ghz and run idle at 8-22C and 23-48C underload with a cooler master 212evo. I recommend a 970 or higher motherboard for this CPU. I use a Gigabyte 970A-UD3P and it has fantastic power and overclocking ability. If you're hesitant about this CPU and wondering whether you should get this or the 8350, I would highly suggest the 8320E AS LONG as you overclock it with aftermarket cooling, the benefits of of this over the 8350 is the cheaper price tag and it also consumes much less power!

Great processor
Nice processor. Huge upgrade from my old 1.8 quad core. Use it to encode my video collection and it chews through a blu ray file in 45 mins or less. Been using it with the stock cooler without any problems, pc doesn't feel hot after encoding or playing games on it. I don't play the latest games but coupled up with a gtx 960 4gb playing crysis 2/3 smooth as butter, and running several applications together without any problems.

Just don't use the supplied heatsink and fan
The processor itself seems to be hold up nicely so far, but I am not using the fan and heatsink that came with it because they are woefully inadequate for my needs. The cooling system I'm using is a Kuhler liquid cooling system, so there's not much chance of it overheating unless I put it under some severe stress. The packaging the processor came in was also a little shoddy. The box was a bit battered and I feel it should have been a bit more securely packaged for something that cost over £100.In conclusion, not happy with the packaging and do not use the supplied heatsink and fan if you plan to put it under any kind of pressure, but the processor itself is working nicely.

Terrific bang for the buck
This processor is hard to beat for the price. The stock heatsink looks like it would be noisy; I used a Noctua NH-9LA low-profile CPU cooler. Since this machine is for my partner, instead of the usual overclocking route many people tend toward I left the clock speed and turbo settings at stock and lowered the CPU voltage 0.03 across the board. Even with all 8 cores running (using Handbrake to encode several DVD movies), that little 0.03 voltage drop lowered my CPU power down to a peak of 66 watts, according to HWiNFO64. No stability issues when running at 4 GHZ (two or three cores running full-tilt) or when running all 8 cores loaded at 3.2 GHZ with this reduced voltage.Since my CPU cooler isn't rated for 95 watts I didn't attempt any serious overclock, but without adjusting voltages I was able to bump the base clock to 3.5 GHZ and the turbo clocks up to 3.8 GHZ and 4.2 GHz, respectively. I expect the frequency increase would push the processor out of the 95 watt range, but not by a large amount. I'm not sure how stable the overclock would be, but it ran Elder Scrolls Online for an hour or so without any glitches, and that's with my 65 watt CPU cooler.I have been waiting to replace my old Core i3 work rig with a Ryzen setup when they are released, but I am seriously considering just buying another one of these and waiting to see what happens with Ryzen in a year or so.My build (for my partner):Corsair Carbide 100R TowerEVGA SuperNOVA 650 GS 650W fully modular 80+ gold power supplyMSI 970A Gaming Pro Carbon motherboardNoctua NH-9LA CPU cooler(RAM, SSD, and video card were from the previous computer).

Potencia asequible.
