Doesn't absorb as quickly as the "Better" Magnesium range. I thought I'd try a different brand and thought Ancient Minerals would be better because it was more expensive - how wrong was I. This gel is really watery. I was really surprised that with the slightest pressure on the tube how much product runs out. I usually use this for my night cramps (caused by medication and electrolyte loss through sweating). I find that using magnesium gel was the only thing that helped calmed the muscle cramping. I had a particular bad cramp in my right calf one night and reached over to use the Ancient Minerals Gel - I started with a big handful because its hard to control the flow from the tube and kept rubbing - no change in my cramp. I poured a little more and kept rubbing over my calf area and I felt a slight relaxation, only to then get another contraction in the muscle. I then decided to use my other Magnesium gel which didn't have much left in the tube. I squeezed out what I could and found that cramp loosening instantly. I think I will stick to the brand that works for me. It's a shame because I had high hopes for this but I think one of the ingredients prevents instant absorption.

No, it is not for pain relief. It is for a direct application of magnesium to muscles, tendons and nerves. Direct is far better than systemic (oral) magnesium. For tendonitis, it is fantastic, as tendonitis is commonly caused by low magnesium. When tendon cells cannot get enough magnesium, they use calcium as a replacement, which means over time it HARDENS them causing damage. For muscles a reasonable expectation is to soothe soreness. For nerve problems (which my wife has) is can be used to facilitate nerve healing which is a very slow process. You need to get a feel for where best to apply for nerves in ones' legs. FYI. after my 7/27/18 fluroquinolone toxicity attack (never use Levaquin, Cipro, EVER), I went from crutches to a cane to 90% recovery of leg and shoulder tendons in 10-12 weeks. Absolutely love this product. I've even given away a couple bottles to family who needed it. It helps me get to sleep at night when the joint pain prevents me from keeping still.

I don't use this on my pain spots directly; I use it on my skin every day as a magnesium supplement for migraines and other health problems. I have tried it directly on a painful area, like my neck, and it's too irritating. I find that I can only apply this gel to less delicate areas, like my arms. With that said, it works really well. I can tell when I have enough magnesium in my system and when I don't. This stuff absorbs better than most of the sprays I've tried, and definitely better than the lotions. Important tip: you have to rinse your skin and apply a moisturizer after it dries up! I failed to read this detail in the directions (oops) and was left with dry, flaky, wrinkly skin for quite a while. Once I started rinsing my skin after the gel had absorbed, and applying a rich moisturizer with ceramides, I was good to go.

I bought this product for muscle pain in my arms. After radiation, my arms ached severely. After using this product, the pain went away almost immediately but eventually the pain comes back. It’s leaves my skin somewhat sticky, but it does relieve the pain. I’m satisfied. Will buy again.

As I have "matured in age" I began to sometimes at night wake up with horrific upper thigh leg cramps. The kind that you can barely move and you need to walk but you can't move. Kind of writhing in pain, sick at your stomach, break out in a sweat leg cramps. Grab a bottle of this and rub the lotion on the area of pain. I'm blessed, my husband will jump up, grab the lotion and put it on for me. But, when traveling for business I carry this with me & have had to use it by myself. This was recommended to me by a pharmacist at People's Pharmacy in Austin, TX and I do my best to never run out of it. Grateful I found it on Amazon. My leg cramps normally happen if I am dehydrated or sit too long in one position....flying dehydrates and you sit for hours. This product is a Godsend. I love my Ancient Minerals Magnesium lotion. I also have the gel by this company and it works too. You can also use it on foot cramps or cramping calves. It works. This product comes with or without melatonin. I keep both. Melatonin one is great for night. I have two bottles beside my bed on the nightstand. This stuff works!!
