Lovely story book for Christmas collection
Our 4 year old is not christened but we celebrate Christmas and are Irish. Even though we no longer practice, it is hard to ignore the Christian element of Christmas and nativity scenes displayed in Ireland and other European countries around this time of year. I always enjoyed the nativity story and songs growing up hence why I wanted to share with our four year old. This is a lovely child friendly introduction to the nativity story - Mary and Joseph's journey and the birth of baby Jesus. The illustrations are lovely. Only oddity is the falling snow. All in all this is a lovely book to add to our Christmas collection.

The Christmas Story
This book reinforced the Nativity story for my 5yr old Grandson who started school this year. It initiated lots of dialogue about the story of the birth of Jesus, and he was able to relate to the different characters in the story.

Great book with beautiful illustrations
I brought this book for my 4 month old son to read to him this year and every other year until he outgrows it. He loves looking at the colourful pages and listening to me reading and smiles at the pictures. It is the perfect book to tell your baby/child the christmas story. I highly recommend this book to anyone wishing to tell the story to their little ones. It would also make a lovely gift.

A retelling
'The Christmas Story', by author/illustrator, Ian Beck, simply retold with sufficient text to keep the interest of the younger eye, accompanied by beautiful illustrations. From the back cover: ~ 'High above the stable the night sky was filled with angels, who gave thanks to God and welcomed the new baby with their beautiful music.' Measuring around 26.5 cm x 22 cm, the pastel paperback covers open to 28 good quality shiny pages, beginning with: ~ 'The story of the birth of Jesus began in a garden in the city of Nazareth, where Mary and Joseph lived...' ...and ending with: ~ 'And now, thousands of years later, at every Christmas we remember the marvellous story of how Jesus was born.'

True meaning of Xmas
I bought this story for my 3 year old son because we're religious and I wanted him to understand Xmas wasn't just all about presents and a man with a white beard! It's a great story, which begins with the angel Gabriel telling Mary she will give birth to Jesus. The pictures are lovely and there aren't too many words for toddlers and young children.

an ideal first Christmas story, with real meaning
I was looking for a Christmas story to read to my daughter so that she grows up understanding the true meaning of Christmas. After one wrong turn, I found this book and I've been delighted. It tells the story beautifully, with gorgeous detailed pictures, and covers the important elements of the story. Highly recommended.
