AQA Exam Board - English Poetry GCSE WORKBOOK
CGP books are great in simplifying and clearly explaining to the student what is required for exam success. This WORKBOOK is great to use along side CGP's 'POWER AND CONFLICT' poetry guide. The guide will go into more detail about how to analyse the poems for exam success. This product is the workbook and so helps the student practise the three main skills for exam success:- 1. Write about the poems in a thoughtful way, making clear comparisons and picking out appropriate examples and quotations to back up points and opinions. 2. Identify and explain features of form, structure and language. Using subject terminology, show how the poets use these effectively to create meanings and effects. 3. Refer to the context of the poems, making clear links between the context and text. There are hundreds of questions throughout the book, that test he students knowledge of all fifteen poems! Answers are at the back of the book. Definitely a useful addition to any student's exam success.

A great companion to the AQA Anthology of Poetry: Power and Conflict : The Poetry Guide
This series is very good and I have been using it for a couple of years now. Most recent purchase is this one: New GCSE Literature AQA Poetry Workbook: Power and Conflict Anthology for Grade 9-1 Course. Its great for students who are struggling to understand texts. It has an accompanying workbook which you have to purchase separately. It s so easy to use: on he inside of the front cover the themes for each poem is laid out in a quick reference table. Th guide also includes: Section one - The poems from Ozymandias by Percy Bysshe Shelley to Checking Out Me History by John Agard. Section two: Themes -Power of Humans -Power of Nature -Effects of Conflict -Reality of Conflict -Loss and Absence -Memory -Negative Emotions -Identity -Individual Experiences Section three: Poetic Techniques from Forms of Poetry to Mood Section four: Exam Buster (help with comparing, planning and structuring answers) At the end of Sections one-three there Skills Focus activities (P.E.E.E.D in Section one; Discussing Content in Section two; Analysing Language, Structure and Form in Section three and Writing Well in Section four. At the end of Section four there are Exam Style Questions. Answers to practice questions are at the end of the book. It is reasonably priced and well worth buying for struggling students or as a revision tool.
