MacBook Pro compatible
This worked perfectly to connect my MacBook Pro to an external hard drive I was using for a backup. Thunderbolt ports are a nuisance but this device made it less annoying.

Quite disappointing so far... but customer service remedied the problem...
Update from original post: Apparently I did not have the proper power supply for this device. I had several but none provided the exact amount of amperage to handle my needs. With help from the very friendly and enthusiastic support people they sent a link to something they recommended would work and for another $9 I was able to obtain a power supply that is working excellently and now the device handles the USB external devices with no issues thus far. If it changes I’ll update this. I changed the rating to 4 stars and would probably give it five if there was a more clear explanation in the product as to what I needed to obtain in addition to properly power this or if in the future, such a device were included with the packaging. Personally, for the price, I think the extra $5 they might incur for cost could be passed onto the customer and the customer would be even more satisfied.I’m still waiting to hear back from the manufacturer but thus far it only seems to allow three USB ports to ever be active at any given time when connected to the 2019 iMac 5K running Mojave with 40GB memory. If I add a fourth device, whatever the device, to any other port, the three existing USB devices unceremoniously disconnect with warning on the screen. If I connect the external power to a 5V plug it makes no difference. If the USB devices are self powered, it makes no difference. Changing ports makes no difference. Three is the max, apparently. The power indicator light is blue and steady and with three devices, it seems quite happy and stable. When I try to connect any SD card, it doesn’t mount the card ever, (tried several), even though the blue light for the SD card slot comes on when one is inserted, and of course, if three USB devices are already plugged in, they are disconnected. Is it a faulty one? Or something else?

Good, but you need to read the description to understand what you are getting.
I bought this to place on my computer desk so I don't have to connect my external drives or other USB accessories to my desktop (which ironically is under my desk). This will serve your needs if you read what is included very carefully.Pros:- Functions well and I have tested it and it will easily connect and power two external drives and an SD card simultaneously. (There are 3 USB ports, but I only tested 2 and the SD card at once)- I especially like the SD card reader, which is sort of spring loaded like my DSLR. You push it in and click, then when you want to remove the SD card, you push in again to eject it. It's a small thing, buy my older Macbook Pro doesn't have this feature, which means I need to pull it out.- The unit is tiny, and it is not bigger than it needs to be.Cons:- The cord is quite short, which meant that I needed to get one of these ( AmazonBasics USB 3.0 Extension Cable - A-Male to A-Female - 3.3 Feet (1 Meter) ) to connect it to my desktop computer.- It says specifically, that they recommend you using a power adapter for powering external drives. Which meant I needed to get one of these as well ( Outtag 5V 2.5a 2a (2000ma) Switching Replacement Power AC/DC Adapter Supply Wall Charger W/Multi Tip for raspberry pi 3,Foscam Wireless IP Camera,USB HUB,2.5-inch HDD Enclosure USB Charging Devices )Conclusion:While it isn't so great that you need to get other things to make this work perfectly (at least include the power adapter), I still think that this is a great hub and to be fair, at least they were forthcoming in stating that you needed to purchase the adapter separately. While the company doesn't provide the 5V wall adapter, they do give you a USB to micro USB cable, but again, it is really too short. Fortunately, any extra accessories are very cheap on Amazon, so I would recommend the trifecta of products.

Best adapter for Mac Book Pros
I’ve seen a few adapters like this, but right now, I think this is one of the better ones. Perfect for laptops. If you have a new Mac Book Pro, ya... you were forced to figure something out quick for your USB devices. Gives you 4 USB ports. 3 of them are for USB 3.0 which is great and has two other slots for Micro SD cards which is nice because of my cameras. Also very reasonable for the price. Even lets me use my capture card for streaming compared to another adapter I got that wouldn’t work.My only, and my only down side... it has a Micro SD with adapter slot, but it’s too small for anything I have. Which is fine ultimately because I only need 1 and I can connect my other camera through USB but was just something to note I guess. Maybe I have the wrong idea what the spot is for. Overall great but do be warned, it does get warm. Make sure it’s not covered up by anything. I’m sure it can get too hot and mess up a few things. So do be careful.
