What happened to Volume 13 part 2?
I have collected all of the compendiums so far. This one reads Volume 13 part 1.I see on sale now, Volume 14 part 2. so what ever happened to Volume 13 part 2 & Volume 14 Part 1, as they are nowhere to be seen on Amazon?Apart from that, all are excellently remastered by Ted Kendall and are the best sound you'll ever hear them from the surviving tapes that are still in existence after 67 yrs. It broke the mold of British humor on radio and is still funny which can't be said for a lot of modern day P.C. humor.

Great Compilation for Goon Show Enthusiast
I love these Goon Show compilations. I have bought all that are available. Great to have all the available episodes from the series together.

It's good to hear Michael Bentine in the series two shows ...
I started listening to this with some trepidation as Ted Kendall makes clear in the enclosed booklet notes the source material is all off-air amateur based recordings but i was pleasantly surprised by the quality of most of this really early material. It's good to hear Michael Bentine in the series two shows and interesting to hear the earliest incarnations of Moriarty, Bloodnok etc - they sound very different from the later shows. There are only really seven actual shows in this set, the rest of the discs filled up with extracts and various documentary material.

Wonderful, just wonderful
Wonderful, just wonderful. Three things need to be emphasized about this collection. Firstly, the core material that has been gathered - off-air recordings of The Goon Show from its very earliest days - constitute priceless listening to anyone who is interested in the development of British humour, let alone this specific programme. Next, the quality of the audio is, given the source material, excellent. This is yet another testament to the incredible skill of Ted Kendall, the sound engineer who worked on this (and is responsible for so many comedy and music collections). Lastly, and fundamentally, I want to sing Ted's praises yet again because he is responsible for finding much of the material that features in this collection (and other Goon Show volumes, and those issued for Hancock's Half Hour, The Navy Lark and so on).

Prince Charles owns this CD set. Shouldn't you?
This set contains the earliest surviving Goon Shows, including recent recoveries: the final episode from series 2, an except from series 3, and a full episode from series 3. It also contains the first third of the episodes from series 4. All episodes are sonically superior to their bootlegs (at least as much as can be expected given how they were recorded). That alone makes the set worthwhile.
