I have tried many different pillows over the years to alleviate neck pain when I sleep. It doesn't happen often, but when it does it can be really bad. One time I couldn't even turn my head all day because my neck was so sore on one side, all the way to my shoulder! I had to turn my whole body instead of just my head! I've tried standard pillows of all kinds, buckwheat, contour pillows, multiple fill levels of "my pillow", etc. I was getting tired of all the different pillows and nothing worked for very long.This pillow, however- it's WONDERFUL. I've been sleeping on it a few weeks now and haven't had any neck pain. My main problem with other pillows was that they would not keep my neck straight, they had plenty of fill but also elevated my head too much. My neck would be bent upward during sleep, instead of the pillow following the natural curve to support my neck and upper spine. This pillow barely raises my head, maybe an inch or two at most, but the memory foam supports my neck in a natural position.Some people are saying this pillow is "hard". It really isn't, it's basically just an extra piece of memory foam for your head. You sink into it. I guess if you just, I don't know, THROW yourself back onto it, it will feel hard? Why would anyone do that? I'd rather have this than an overstuffed, fluffy pillow. I will be taking this pillow with me whenever I travel, I doubt I can ever sleep without it now! So worth the price, and much better than the My Pillows that I've tried- cheaper too! Try it if you have neck/shoulder pain- you can always return it to Amazon if it doesn't work for you.

Read some reviews stating the pillow is very hard, I think one person described it as a bag of cement! Obviously a bit apprehensive looking for a slim memory foam pillow, so much talk of odor, too hard, too soft, too hot etc. I got mine in a small box, with the pillow curled up and wadded inside. it popped out with severe disformation, but after letting it sit and regain consciousness on a flat surface, it looked like it was flat and fresh off the assembly mold. I find this thickness just right for sleeping on my side on a memory foam mattress...I am 5'10" 180lbs and on my side sunk into the mattress, the pillow keeps my neck straight, so not bent towards or away from the bed. It is spongy soft, but not conventional pillow soft. If you buy a memory foam pillow thinking it is a direct replacement for a conventional fluff pillow, you would obviously say it is hard as a rock. Your head will not compress the pillow to 1/8th it's height like a conventional pillow, expect about 1/2 height compression, at least for my head. Also, I have no discernable odor or scent, in or outside of a normal pillow cover. I also noticed no abnormal heat retention while using it a 75F degree room. I am used to sleeping on foam, so maybe I just don't notice the heat as much?SECOND ITEM UPDATE: Just ordered another one of these pillows, but the one that arrived is completely different pillow. The new one is 1 inch THINNER, 2 inches longer, and is limp floppy and unsupportive. If you hold one on your hand in the air, the original I bought will stay flat like a board, but this new one will curve down like a piece of paper. I hate when companies do the switcheroo on a repeat customer, knocking off a couple of stars. In the pictures, the white one is the original and the blue one is what they sent me the second time.

Watch who you buy this pillow from. Depending on how cheap they are, they will take it out of the original, nice, quality packaging and roll it up and shove it in a box way too small for the item. Not how it should be done. You aren’t looking for a log, you want a pillow. The pillow is great. The way it’s shipped is ridiculous and ruins it.

I bought cheap $5-10 pillows every few months for a while until I decided to invest in a thick memory foam pillow, and I was really happy with that pillow. But I realized when I added a 3" foam mattress topper to my bed, sinking in that foam and propping my head up with a thick pillow was a posture disaster. So I needed something flat to get my sleep posture right. I decided on this slim foam pillow and am VERY happy. It is surprisingly comfortable for a flat pillow! You can easily fold it if you need to prop yourself up a little higher. I am sleeping comfortably on my foam topper and flat pillow, both on my side and on my back. It took me forever to convince myself to take the plunge and spend $40 on a pillow but I'm really glad I did!

i have neck soreness and have tried a bunch of neck pillows. I love this one because it is flat and comfortable. I sleep on my side and every time I move my head the foam/gel pillow adjusts to my movement. I highly recommend it. I washed the pillow cover and was just fine, no odors.

The packaging of the pillow was fine and seemed to be original. When I opened it, I found myself overwhelmed by an extraordinary chemical smell that would not dissipate even though I left it overnight on my deck for two consecutive days. After that I tried it on the bed one night and found that the other bedding began to take on the odor! Beyond that, the pillow is not memory foam as described. Would give this zero stars if possible.

Bought it to place between my legs for sleeping after hip replacement.Wife liked it so much for sitting, I bought another.

This is flat yet firm pillow, it's fluff or lack of if, is equally distributed. I do not have any neck pain when I wake up and I am a side sleeper. It was pricey but I would buy it again.
