Classic
This is an old book, and I knew it. The drawings are enough for my education, and is worth the trouble. Knowing how the human body is put together helps to draw how it looks from different angles.

Problem understanding written drawing instructions.
Language used is very difficult to follow...it has a very high "fog index".

Okay
Great to see older drawings and the explanations, though dry, are helpful if you are looking for further understanding in anatomy. Recommended due to its inexpensive price and the value of seeing the results of older artists putting their skills together. 4 out of 5 stars because it's a little dry.

The Human Figure
An old text scanned into Kindle but it doesn't suffer from the usual lack of proof reading. Rather heavy going. A good cure for insomnia.

Sadly poorly printed illustrations and assembled in such fashion that a great many are on the middle margins and ruined by the fold of the book. The text I find a bit too 'clinical', but not the less, a fairly interesting muse.

Basically, it's a description of how the human body, specifically, head, looks like. With few illustrations, and darken pictures. Let's be honest, a description of how it looks like it's not a deep studying. I know how it looks. To explain the difference, a good book would describe like this:"To draw head more accurately, first, you do a circle and make a cross at center. The line is near the eyes position. Start with simplified forms, add shadows to these forms. Later add details"In this book is like that:"The head is light oval, and joints with the neck forming a soft curve." How it's supposed to help? In my opinion, doesn't.I frequently skipped the content and tried to analyze the few illustrations.I don't recommend it.

This is a better version (4th edition) than the Dover (2nd edition)
This is definitely a better version (4th edition) than the "The Human Figure (Dover Anatomy for Artists)" by the same author, but which is based on the 2nd edition. It has better images and contents, and it's even cheaper, than the Dover publication.Unfortunately, I bought the Dover version first. As soon as I flicked through the pages, I knew I bought the wrong book (Very, very disappointed!), and immediately bought this 4th edition.

Detailed figure illustrations
A comprehensive book with detailed illustrations and tonal studies of all parts of the human body .from feet, hands, legs, noses, eyes ears, to torsos and full body studies. Great for anatomy of the human form.
