This is a review of the Aikmi Walkie Talkies for Kids. In the box you get the two radios, matching lanyards, two pairs of fingerless ‘camo’ pattern kid’s gloves and an instruction manual, which is quite small by the way but readable. They require 3 x AAA size batteries in each radio, which are not supplied. The radios have 8 channels plus a small but effective built-in torch - see photos. The small backlit LCD screens are quite informative for something this size. Fitting the batteries in was bit of fiddle to start with but soon sorted as we found it's best to remove the belt clip first, then the back and hey presto, they were up and running. As with most of these sort of items, it’s the range and quality of voice transmission/reception can be a bit lacking but in this case, for something so small they pack quite a decent output as they are after all a child’s toy don’t forget - NOT a professional grade 'all whistles and bells' set. We tried them out in assorted locations from inside buildings to open fields (local recreation area and nearby woods) with the voice transmission/reception very acceptable, considering the size and the low wattage output. They have a quoted rang of 3 kilometres but it all depends on the terrain plus any buildings in ‘line of sight’ really but for our test, a radius of about three quarters of a mile, gave a brilliant, clear reception. Battery usage is quite good so far plus there is an indicator on the screen to show the power reserve left. They come with a 2 year guarantee, so for the current price of around the £30 mark, not a bad deal.

These Aikmi Walkie-Talkies came nicely packaged in a branded box. What's in the box? 2 x Aikmi Walkie-Talkies. 2 x Green lanyards. 1 x User Manual 2 Pairs of army gloves. When I 1st opened the box I was surprised how small these walkie-talkies were. I would say they are half the size of a normal walkie-talkie, so I really wasn't expecting much performance. The walkie-talkies come with no batteries, and they take 3 AAA batteries. To fit the batteries it's much easier if you remove the belt clip first before fitting them, as the back can be a little fiddly to get off and on again. And it does feel a little cheap and flimsy so just be careful with the battery door. With the batteries installed, I was eager to test the performance, so I handed a walkie-talkie to my son and off I went for a range test. So I began to walk down my stairs, whilst my son remained upstairs, and once outside my house I started to walk around my block whilst constantly talking to my boy, I had my doubt's about the range, but WOW! These really did surprise me. I made it the whole way round my block just fine. For small walkie-talkies these really do pack a punch in performance, and although these are aimed at kids, I think they are perfect for adults too. These would be great for fishing lakes, beaches, parks, camping, they have a lot of uses because the performance is good. These walkie-talkies are fantastic ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

These walkie talkies feel quite flimsy so I wouldn't give them to any children who are heavy handed as they won't last 5 minutes if they are not looked after properly. Personally, I think that they are more suited to older children who like to look after their things. They also require 6 x AAA batteries, 3 in each handset, which are not included and I really think that they should have been for the current price of £30.98. The instruction manual is very tiny, you may even need a magnifying glass as well as reading glasses. I would also have liked a better diagram with more easily seen labels for the component parts. What they call the 'PTT' button only has a 'P' on it, so why not just call it the 'P' button, it would be less confusing and quicker to identify. The battery compartment is quite tricky to open, so I wouldn't let a child change the batteries as they could easily break it. The sound quality is acceptable, quite good, really, for the size of the walkie talkies. There is background noise but you can tell what the other person is saying, you just have to remember that only one of you can speak at once and you need to hold the button down when you are talking. My youngest is 32, with no signs of any grandchildren yet, so I didn't want these for children to play with, I wanted them for when hubby is in the garage using his workshop so he can call for help if he needs anything or I can call him to come in for dinner, so that fact that they are quite flimsy is irrelevant for us as we are old enough to be sensible, lol. Our garage isn't attached to the house, it's not miles away but it can be a bit of a pain to have to keep going out there when you want to ask the other person something.

The combination gives a theme to how the toy is played. The walkie-talkies are a bit pricey compared to similar products. For this product, I would highly recommend using/buying rechargeable batteries. I used rechargeable batteries and those are enough to last one regular play session. I have 12 of those so I can replace them if kids wish to continue.
