Look Out for Mater! (Disney/Pixar Cars) (Little Golden Book)

Little Golden Books are great. I read them when I was a little boy, and now I'm having fun reading them to my five year-old son.Look Out for Mater! follows in Golden's tradition by teaching lessons to young minds while telling a fun story. Artwork is colorful and vibrant, and the story is long enough to capture a child's interest without boring them with long-winded storylines. As has always been the case with these Golden books, the front and back cover is made of cardboard, which is a much more solid construction than paperback books, which can easily get mangled, bent, and torn with rough handling.This book can easily be read to a 4 or 5 year old, but it's a bit advanced for these young readers to take on by themselves. Best to have an older caregiver read the story. The advantage is, each page has more words, which results in more time on each page. The disadvantage is, if a child is learning to read--as my child is--this book will be too complicated to read on their own. We collect a mix of books for our little one. Some are more complex, which I read to him. Others are level 1 or 2 books, which he can use when learning to read.If you're looking for fun reading material to read to your little one, or a fun book for a child who is already reading, you can't go wrong with any of the Cars Golden books. Look Out for Mater! is one Golden book. They're cheap, so if this interests you, I'd also recommend searching for others.

Gave it as a gift, it was a big hit. The book has a sturdy cover.

My grandson lives fir us to read to him before bedtime - typical boy he loves the car series

Great for CARS fans who are aching for a new story about what happened AFTER the CARS movie ended. This is a typical Golden Book - illustrations are OK and pages are hard to turn even after pressed down. But the story begins with how happy Lightening is to have his racing headquarters in Radiator Springs and to be living near his best friends Mater and Sally. Sally is taking a trip for a few days and she asks Lightening to "Look Out for Mater" while she is away. Lightening and Mater don't really play it safe and they have a great time racing around the gravel pit Sally wanted them to stay away from. They get chased by a new Bulldozer character "Big Bull" . Mater ends up in a bit of trouble and needs some repair work from Doc in the end. All 3 of our kids loved the story and my 4 yr old son went to sleep with the book tucked under his arm.

It is nice, my kid loves McQueen but for a bedtime story, that’s very very long. Hard to keep my 3 year old engaged after one or two pages

My 3 year-old grandson loves Disney's The Cars Series and these story books are among his favorites! Because he loves the movie and tv shows, I thought he would enjoy these story books. His dad reads to him every night. I sent him this one and two other suggested ones and he loved them. He insisted that they be read over and over. He has the mini-cars set and knew the characters. He asked that I send him more and I did. He lives in another state and these books make great conversation when we Facetime, and hopefully makes this granddad a favorite, too.

Bought for my 2 1/2 yr old great nephew and he loves it. He sits. beside me and listens to the story, pointing out his favourite "Queen and Mater". Recommend.

Big fan of all Cars and Lightning McQueen related things. Have 5 other Cars Little Golden books and this is more of the same: beautiful and charming artwork with a simplified story little ones can follwow and enjoy.

Our son loves "Cars", so this was a big hit, he requests this often before bedtime! He is also a big fan of Mater, so good choice.

Good quality book for the price, for my nephew who loves mater, not many books for just mater but bought this one and another, very happy with them.
