I work in a local fish shop that has a lot of reputation in the area as the aquarium shop that excels in freshwater fish and also has a good selection of plants. My background as an aquarist is a bit bougie… and when I’m helping customers who want the results I get, I recommend this product hard! It doesn’t replace aqua soil… it enhances it. I’ve had a few of our repeat customers use it on its own under sand and, at first they’re establishing better plant growth but after just a few months the ecosystem crashes. THIS DOES NOT REPLACE THE NEED FOR AQUASOIL! … I want to make that clear for anyone wondering how to use it. THIS PRODUCT ENHANCES AQUA SOIL! When I set up a tank, and I add this to a nutrient rich substrate, I think it helps the initial cycle, and promotes growth for new plants. Long term, the nature aquariums I’ve set up with it seem more stable… granted each tank is different and I can’t necessarily point to this product alone for that, but I have noticed a positive trend on the tanks I’ve added this to. Next time I do a customer tank I’ll recommend it, and for my personal gallery I swear by it.

You can't go wrong with any 2hr aquarist products. They also have an excellent website thats full of learning material and beautiful scapes. What I do with these is make my own custom fertilizer tabs. I have a dirted tank. It's depending on the plant, but generally I use about 40 percent of this fertilizer. The rest of the capsule is filled with granular humic acid, worm castings, biochar and beneficial soil bacteria in powder form. I get better results than the expensive brands I've tried :)
