SUPER Pergola Kit!!
I have waited several months to write a review on this pergola / gazebo unit to provide a candid review to help others shopping this type of product. As I researched the purchase I found a huge variety of products and prices, you have to be careful as I found it can be easy to overspend and end up with poor quality. Here we are about 90 days later and can can 100% endorse this product. This Chinese manufacturer, AECOJOY, has a bunch of different sizes available. For our application we needed a 14 x 8 foot unit. You have to completely assemble this product, it is all broken down for shipping and keeping that cost low, so lots of assembly, however good instructions. My observations and tips for perfect / successful installation:* read the assembly instructions SEVERAL times before even beginning* carefully lay out all your parts / pieces and keep it organized to save assembly time and/or frustration* have and use some sort of Loctite on the screws/bolts - it makes for very solid post / beam assembly* use hand tools to tighten nuts / bolts / screws - this will avoid damage to the post / beam / part finished paint surface* absolutely tie / secure this unit to your wall / house for solid weather & wind resistance* assemble with two people so you have four hands when needed* fasten the post to the ground / deck / slab surface in some way - again, resistance against high winds / stormsGREAT looking, sturdy, and great value for the product! We have transformed our back deck into an outdoor 'room' by adding this gazebo. Very happy with the product and HIGHLY recommend!!

Reasonable price, but could be improved! Time-consuming but not difficult to install.
We purchased two of these Aecojoy pergolas (each 12x16) to attach to the house on the patio (34x14) beside our pool. I read many reviews. The same brand pergolas are sold at Lowes and Home Depot, as well as other online retailers. So far, we have one pergola up but will wait until the other pergola is up before attaching to the side of the house. At 8', it fits right under the soffit. The instructions are pictures and part labels. A manfriend did the assembly. I helped with the installation. Overall, it looks "nice." Having used popup tents over this area for a few years, it's a big improvement. However, it doesn't provide the same shade as a tent 🙄. Due to the afternoon sun, I have purchased tension rods and outdoor curtains to block the sun on hot days. We will definitely get more use out of my patio now.A center post on the backside should have been provided, especially on the longer length pergolas. It is sagging in the middle and we will add whatever hardware is needed (not included) to support the middle of each pergola on the house side. Also, a middle outside bracket (inner bracket included) would have very very useful on each post both structurally and for looks (see photo). The panels are not difficult to install but a rubber mallet is very helpful with that to ensure each piece locks in. Also, a real drill is absolutely necessary! All together, I'd say we spent 10 hours to install one pergola. The installation of the second pergola will be much easier. Takes two people and a third could be helpful! We plan to use a silicone caulk down the center of both pergolas upon completion. In the event of snow, we plan to add addition supports underneath. I searched the aecojoy website for the availability of replacement panels but found none. Home Depot does sell those panels however.(I may add to my review upon completion. 🤞🏻)

Its a great pergola if you build it correctly.
When it's built it's beautiful and sturdy. I attached it to the house as recommended in the instructions and had a friend with a hammer drill do one hole per leg to fasten it down on the concrete slab and it's very sturdy. One problem in the directions that you shouldn't follow or you will go crazy. I got the 8'x10' and the instructions tell you to slide in the back roof panels, then put on back end caps (F) and then middle caps (G) and then slide in the front roof panels. This will not work! The panels are a thick sort of fiberglass with no taper at the ends. They will split top and bottom when you slide them into metal brackets and once on you can't get to the top middle to make sure that doesn't happen. I had to take them all back out and put together back pieces and front pieces with the middle bracket on the ground and THEN slide the whole unit into place and THEN put back and front cap pieces on. That is the only way to do it. After an hour or two of misery I figured that out and now it's a really nice pergola and cheaper than if I bought the wood, hardware and paint to build one myself. You also should have three people to hold it up when putting it all together. I had just myself and my girlfriend and it fell down at one point and bent some of the pieces but I was able to repair them.
