San Andreas [DVD] [2004] [2015]

WOW!!!This is a must see. From the start we are gripped with action right to last scenes non stop.I have read some of the negative reviews on Amazon and another review site (won't mention which, but it has a huge database) and would say that if they find this movie boring and cheesy then get a life. How can you be bored with continuous action. Some comments have said the acting is bad - no way. All the actors were professional and I couldn't fault anyone.One review I read on the other site said that you never learn the last name of the family. Just shows you how much attention these people have paid to the movie - the name is Gaines.Another comment was that this could never really happen. I remember when Towering Inferno was released and some comments were that it could never happen. Several years later this scenario DID happen, although not in the U.S. (I can't remember where it was).Those who have made negative comments have obviously viewed this movie with a view to picking holes in everything. Just sit back (or on the edge of your seat) and enjoy this movie. It's the best I have seen in a long time.

The first time watching this on NOW TV I wasn't that impressed by the cheesy story lines and predictable characters but the special effects are what helps to keep you watching this film. I don't mind a good disaster movei like '2012' this one is pretty good. I sense you can guess what happens after the first 5 seconds when a girl is driving along a road, listening to Taylor Swift, she checks her mobile for a text messgae (not sensible to do when driving) and then a roadslide happens causing her car or Range Rov er to tumble down a ravine. Cue, Dwayne Johnsons rescue team to come in to save her and then story continues with many earthquakes and aftershocks and a tsuami around SanFransico. The romance between Blake and Ben is quite believeable and its not bad acted, apart from the brothers Ben and Oliies fake English accents, If you like disaster films then ignore the cheesy bits and skip to the actual catastrophic events that take place.

Full on action from beginning to end, so fasten your seatbelts for a ride of your life. Earthquakes can make a lot of damage and cause problems all around than producing a movie means a lot of knowledge so you can convince people it's happening now while watching this show, so I give it the thumbs up maybe a bit off in some places, but still entertaining throughout that it's worth an A grade plus for keeping things on the ball and not to spoil it with too much impossible deeds included. A separated father on one coast and family on the other with everything happening around them he is there only hope. Cast did a brilliant job making you feel involved and story was fantastic. Say to much spoils the show as this is my opinion so I'll leave you there to find out for yourselves. Fabulous entertainment that will rock your foundations so don't forget the munchies pick up the movie sit and put your feet up rest to a marvellous night in with the family. Enjoy!

I love 'disaster' movies and have to admit that this one passed me by - not sure why. I watched it on Prime and was very pleasantly surprised, in fact, so much so that I ordered it from Amazon to watch whenever I wanted. (seen twice already).The special effects are amazing, similar to 2012 (my all time favourite disaster movie so far) and the action never really halted from the very beginning to the end. Dwayne Johnson was perfect for the role, as was his wife and daughter - and a special mention must go to the English guy and his younger brother who also shone.The film is obviously about the San Andreas fault line and earthquakes , or rather the possibilities of what could occur. I read some reviewers opinions the film being too over the top, too many special effects etc, but for me I am always aware that when I watch a film I am watching a film, just entertainment which should never be taken too seriously. Anyway I loved this film and will be watching it again.

In another century (i.e. the 20th) we were unashamed consumers (and charged accordingly) of B-movies. Those not quite top notch and sometimes down right trashy movies that everyone loved to see - The Blob, Invasion of the Body Snatchers and many run-of-the-mill westerns fell into this category. (BTW just because something is a B-movie doesn't mean it can't be good and/or a "classic").All this to say that while i wouldn't pay money at the cinema to see San Andreas, I did buy it as a reasonably priced DVD and totally loved the film! Totally preposterous situation - emergency helicopter pilot nicks his work helicopter at the beginning of the disaster flick and flies off to rescue estranged wife and try to find lost daughter as the San Andreas fault lets rip - wouldn't he get royally fired afterwards??? Anyway, the ground shakes, tsunamis crash the shoreline and everything falls down and along the way our hero saves a lot of lives. Who wouldn't love a movie like this? Turn your brain off and enjoy watching it.

This is a good fun, CGI heavy fairly brainless disaster movie.I watched it on a friday evening with a couple of beers and it was exactly what i thought it would be.Dwaye Johnson is a suitably charismatic and muscular leading man and he carries the whole thing on his shoulders. Paul Giammatti adds some legitimate acting ability in the role of scientist/explainer to keep everyone on board with what is happening.My only slight dissapointment was the wasting on Ioan Gryffed as the 'new boyfriend' as i called what was going to happen the moment his charactor was mentioned, let alone introduced!If you want a good time with a silly actioner then this is definately something you should check out!
