My trusted writing companion for almost half a century
I’ve been writing with this type of Parker pen since I was taught how to write.. many decades ago. I very much like the style, the weight and the grip. Most importantly the durability is generally very good. The metal top end offers very good protection against chewing and general wear. The only historic weakness is the clip, that when I was a schoolboy used to break after a few weeks – these days I’m better able to control my tendencies. I struggle a bit more with two aspects of the modern Parker pens of this type; first, the push button on top is now rounded and polished. For sentimental and aesthetic reasons I prefer the old variant with the sunken rim and Parker logo printed on the button. Yet this more recent variant is probably more hygienic. Secondly, the new painted metal bottom part looks nice but I think the former little chrome band above the tip just gave the pen a more distinguished look. Also metal (aluminium I suppose) has replaced the former plastic bottom part, this enhances durability and prevents the body from scratches in theory. But the spare modern one I have already has paint damage near the tip. Either way, rather than a colour I always have the harder to find plain stainless steel lower body variant that looks a bit more stylish. I’ve always sworn to the finest blue tip.Professionally the most important reason to have this pen is that is looks decent and modestly chic but everyone knows its not outrageously expensive, like a Montblanc pen (while the functionality is similar). This is very important to me as I am in trusted relationship with significant clients and advisors and I can’t afford to come across as sensitive to luxury nor as careless about appearance. Also an expensive pen would be a waste as I tend to lose my Parker pen every other year at meetings or conferences.I was quite pleased to find my favourite Parker pen variant at Amazon, at less than half the price than the various city high-street stationary shops. So I bought 2 of them to be prepared for my next inevitable loss. And of course I highly recommend these pens.

Oi Oi nosy Parker
I had a mont blanc for a year £400 ! And put a new refill in it. It always felt scratchy. Did the same with the Parker pen I found and another year on and it’s my favourite pen and not really expensive.

Nice little duo, but probably not a gift.
The first thing the review asks us is.. is it giftable? In my honest opinion, no. Whilst Parker pens are, often debatable, at the top of their game in the pen industry I wouldn't say these two would be a great gift. The package it comes in is very simplistic, no case or anything and the pens are quite standard.Comfort wise, they are incredibly comfortable pens to use. Their solid smooth body means that I'm left with no odd grooves in my fingers after a long days writing and they are an attractive pair. They are very easy to scratch. In fact I've only had them a few months and a few knocks across the desk have left them with tiny hair scratches on their lovely coloured segments.Value I'm a bit on the see saw between "oof thats a wee bit steep" and "decent quality for decent price". While there is probably far cheaper pens on Amazon, I did want to buy a parker pen for my first job in an office as a little treat. My gran had a parker pen, my mum did too.. so it was a little me thing. So if you want it for nostalgia, absolutely go ahead. But otherwise.. the ballpoint pen writes smooth, decent quality ink and replaceable. The blue ink pen.. eh is a bit stop and start at times but that tends to happen with gel pens. So when I go to reach for a pen for signing documents.. its most likely the red ballpoint. But overall its a good pen set. Worth £18? Maybe debatable.

Nice pen to write with.
The reason why I like Parker pens is I find them comfortable in my hand when I write?
