Gollancz Hell Bent

Seller was good but it's not library binding, I am not sure why Amazon is showing book under Library binding. I wanted hardcover but Paperback quality isn't bad too.

Would definitely recommend this version of the book to people who liked the first book.I really love the cover art, shipping was fast and book arrived without any knicks or damage.Packing could've been made a little more secure.

I very much enjoyed reading Hell Bent! It is by no means a super intellectual or hard read, which is exactly what you need sometimes. I enjoyed Ninth House, the series' previous installment, but had some issues with the novel's structure, world building and overall execution. I find the series' concept and premise fascinating but was somewhat disappointed with the execution, and hoped that Leigh Bardugo had worked on the aforementioned issues for Hell Bent. Some of the issues have been fixed, but I still find the structure and timelines lack clarity and make for a slower, less enjoyable read at times.The novel's strong point is of course how endearing the characters are and the concept's sheer coolness. I mean, who wouldn't be interested in reading about magical secret societies? Still, I hope that Bardugo continues to hone her craft in order to produce an even better third book!

I'm feeling a little bereft at the moment, having just finished reading this follow up to Ninth House which scored a place in my Top 5 reads for that year. This one wasn't quite a 5 for me, but it did come close. Despite the dark content the writing didn't have quite the same dark feel, and more than once the author's Young Adult audience roots came to the fore. However I loved it, and still love Alex and the crew, and Bardugo's way of telling a ripping good yarn. The reason I feel bereft is because it was my most anticipated release and despite stretching out the last few chapters I have finished it and I didn't want it to be over. There is more than enough scope for Alex's story to continue and I'll be keeping an eye out for an announcement about the third book's publication date!
