I've used my old cutting board for some time now and while it's very functional and does the job, it's not visually appealing and it's easy for liquids to spill to the side. I wanted to upgrade to something better and came across this board by Sonder Los Angeles. It had a lot of positive reviews so I decided to give them a try. I chose to purchase the Acacia wood board because of the modern design and dark rustic color of the wood, as well as some of the functional aspects, such as the groove for catching liquids while cutting, and with a flip-side that can serve as a charcuterie board. I've only seen boards either for cutting or for display, so I liked to multi-purpose use with the board. Also, big bonus points for this board for using Acacia wood as a sustainable and eco-friendly material.The board was packaged in a nicely designed box conveying that modern feel. When taking the board out, it was pretty hefty, which definitely gave it a high-quality feel, and it was not only considerably larger than my previous board but also twice the thickness. I was also very impressed with the craftsmanship of the board upon my initial inspection. The color of the finish is very nice and I love the wood texture. The grooves for catching liquid is nice and even and the channel on the charcuterie side is perfectly shaved out. There's also grooves on the sides of the board for easy holding and carrying. All of the edges were sharp, crisp, and straight, which is an attribute to its attention to detail. Overall, it gave me a great first impression.I haven't used it yet for chopping anything; it looks way too nice to cut on! We've used it for preparing and cleaning foods first, and washing and cleaning was no problem at all. I might update when I start chopping. We did use the flip side for a charcuterie display to see what it would look like and it really looks stylish and terrific! You can see in the pictures that we put on some grapes, nuts, other snacks and a block of cheese, but you can definitely put anything you want on there and it will look amazing. We are excited to try different combinations in the future.Ordinarily, I wouldn't rave over something like a cutting board but I think this one takes the cake. I think every kitchen should have a board from Sonder Los Angeles because it looks very sleek and cool, and it has a great multi-purpose function. I also appreciate the sustainability of the material and praise the company for looking for eco-friendly solutions. For $50, this board gives great value in providing durability, functionality, and visibility.

When I opened the shipping box, it looked like someone had sent me a gift. The presentation box containing the cutting board makes a wonderful first impression. Then I opened the box and was again pleasantly surprised. My first impression was that the board looked like a work of art done by a craftsman. It was packed on all sides and on the top with foam padding, so it was in perfect condition. Although thick and sturdy, just like I wanted, it was easy to pick with the deeply recessed grooves on each end. I flipped it over to find a wonderful serving surface with a deeper than expected recess for crackers, breads, etc. The grain of the wood is fantastic and gives it a highly customized look. I had searched kitchen supplies for several months, and found that most boards were either plastic or cheaply constructed wood products. When I found quality wooden boards in specialty stores, they cost way more than I wanted to pay. So when I saw the great reviews for this board, I decided to take a chance. I am so glad I did. It is exactly what I wanted. As an added bonus, the board comes with clear cleaning and maintenance instructions that are actually easy to read and accomplish. Be sure to order the food grade mineral oil as you will be needing it to condition the board about once month. And as far as service from the seller, I had a question about whether to oil it prior to first use, so I emailed the seller and received a reply in less than an hour. The answer was that the product is thoroughly oiled prior to shipment, and that it only needs a light washing first, followed by monthly oiling to keep it from drying out and to maintain its original beauty. If you are looking for excellent value and a beautiful cutting board, this product is your answer.

This is a beautiful, sturdy board! It is thick, heavy, and gorgeous, but the finish it has from the factory scratches very easily, with every slice. They are less visible when you oil the board, but it is disheartening to make such visible scratches with every use. Still, happy with the purchase and anticipate the board lasting a long time.

You’re going to hate cutting on it that first time, but only because you don’t want to tarnish how good it looks when it comes out of the box. Works like a charm for me and its elegance is unmatched for the price. Highly recommend

Product quality is as expected. Thoughtful enough to have a card about company history and care instructions. Bought for wife hopefully it'll last through tropical weather in Singapore. Will be buying some food-safe mineral oil for protection.
