Great spirit and Knight valors, beautiful film!
A really beautiful film (featuring the amazing Gillian Anderson in a very unusual part), with great visual ideas and valors, and unforgettable shots (the beggar suddendly appearing as an exhausted knight). It's about loss, friendship, growing up, overcoming fears and a lot of other things. The Trevor Jones music is fantastic. In my opinion, it's an underrated movie. With Gena Rowlands, Harry Dean Stanton, Kieran Culkin... It has been made with a lot of heart, and the frienship between the actor is tangible.

Magical
This is a superb film that, inexplicably, is not well known.A gentle giant of a boy who has been almost irrevocably damaged by terrible events in his childhood is brought back to life by a small disabled boy. This disabled boy is given a chance to see the world - and live in his own world with this huge companion. It is funny, sweet and very emotional - but never in a contrived manner. How it didn't get an Oscar - or Elden Henson (the actor who plays Max Kane) didn't get an Oscar I'll never understand.See it - and enjoy.

I watched this when I was very young and wanted ...
I watched this when I was very young and wanted to see how I feel about it now, it's very cliche but it has intelligence. It's not all pull at the heart strings.

Everything he said it was
I teach in a French lycée and had never heard of this movie until one of my students, a bit of a loner, stayed after class to talk to me about it. He loaned it to me so I could see it, and I was amazed that such a good movie, (with Sharon Stone!) had drawn so little attention. Since then I've used it every year in school and the students love it. Okay, there's a couple of silly scenes that could have been cut, but I certainly agree that Sharon Stone puts in a remarkable performance in what is a secondary role, and that the two young stars are pitch perfect in every scene. I've seen it dozens of times, but still tear up when Max stands up in class and proves he does have a brain.

The Mighty
I love this film it is a firm favourite. A story of a rite of passage for a teenage boy who does not fit into the so called 'normal' life. do not be put off by Sharon Stone starring in it - for once she is good. This is a sensitive story, funny and sad and will not fail to stir emotions. A good film for Yr.6 upwards with a bullying and treating everyone equal debate. go the whole hog and get the book first 'Freak the Mighty' then watch the DVD. Both brilliant.
