3M Professional Masking Tape 2090, Universal Surfaces, 48 mm x 50 m - UV stable, Water Resistant, For Indoor & Outdoor Painting and Decorating

I don't usually leave many reviews, however I felt this tape justifies a review. compares to local DIY stores "off the shelf masking tape" this for me has been much better. I was apprehensive at first due to the cost of the tape compared with standard masking tape, however I have been impressed with this product. Firstly the tape is much thicker than standard masking tape so doesn't keep ripping when trying to mask up areas prior to painting. The adhesion is also better. I had just fitted a solid wood flooring & needed to mask up skirtings to touch up & re-gloss. This tape worked really well. Quick an easy to prep & tape up areas. After glossing, the tape removed easily from the flooring. No rips or bits left behind during removal, no adhesive left on the floor so didn't have to spend ages trying to get random bits left behind off surfaces. When i was initially masking up the area to paint I needed to tuck this tape under the skirting and door frames. No issues, quick and easy. I think because the quality & thickness is better, the tape didn't keep folding or creasing up like cheap masking tape. Yesterday I needed to mask up some areas around my decking in the garden so i could stop decking stain getting onto areas I wanted to keep clean. This tape actually bonded nicely to whatever I put it on - brick, wood, stone...etc. I didn't want decking stain on my patio slabs or railway sleepers, so masked up the edging where the decking overlaps my patio - went down a treat. I also released that when i used cheap masking tape last year, stain went through the tape and ended up on my slabs - Annoying because dark stain / oil on white stone slabs proved difficult to clean. In fact tbh i think it has permanently stained my white slabs in areas after my attempts last year. This tape worked much better with no issues. In addition to the above one little thing which has always annoyed me about cheap masking tape is trying to get the tape off the reel during prep. Cheap masking tape (for me) seems to just rip off randomly making a simple job of masking up an area difficult. This tape however works much better. Im pleased with this purchase & will be using better quality tapes in the future thanks to this product. It just works & makes things easier. Yes its expensive for tape that you are going to literally put down, paint, peel up & throw in the bin... but if it makes decorating easier and quicker then the price doesn't really bother me. To be fair aswell, its a fairly decent size reel.

Have bought this tape numerous times - it’s really sticky and great for cutting in. It doesn’t pull the paint off the wall when removing it either. Also for some reason the tape smells SO nice. Tears really easy and is great value for money. Will keep buying and replacing for any painting jobs.

Good product and used before

Best masking tape by far. Used for years for masking up to spray yachts.

This is 50m so longer than frog tape and works really well. Its just tape but if you are doing a lot of painting, this will save a lot of time. Also its wider than other brands and cheaper for top quality. I find that when using a length to get a straight line, the extra width and stability means its easier to keep these lines straight as you pull the tape taut. Frog tape tends to bow but this may be down to its narrower width.

Good Value Good quality

This tape has good adhesion and ca be peeled off without leaving a residue. Just what is needed for masking tape. Product is recommended.

As a masking tape, I’m sure it’s fine, but the tape has a very odd chemical smell after removing from cellophane. Smell only increases when heated on a 3D heated bed. Stopped the print and changed to ‘green’ tape, no further smells! Therefore I would not recommend for 3D Printing!

Bon pouvoir adhésif, se coupe facilement et tient bien sur différentes surfaces. Parfait pour les petits travaux, l’emballage ou les réparations rapides. Un basique toujours utile à avoir sous la main.

Usage un peu détourné, car j'ai commandé ce scotch pour améliorer l'adhérence du plateau de mon imprimante 3D - sur les conseils d'un ami. Et bien, quelle bonne idée ! Cela fonctionne à merveille, alors si vous êtes dans le même cas que moi, vous pouvez y aller 👍🏻
