Soldering kit for beginners
This kit was on offer at £10.99 and as it seemed like a bargain I bought one. When it arrived in a zipped folder, I unzipped to find most of the items falling out, not a good start.I am guessing that UK regs meaning it has to come with a 13 amp big plug fitted means the folder is overfilled and other items were free to shake about inside.Still, nothing was damaged. There are no instructions for those new to soldering, not even a suggested temperature range, so off to you tube for those who need help. There is a little box with only Chinese writing, Its flux but only google translate helped. Most items in the kit are low end of the tool range, but ok for a learner to experiment with. The iron works as it should although it came with a black coloured tip in the iron which I tinned without trouble, but the spare tips are really low grade. I only tried one and it oxidised in a blink and I struggled to tin it. I left the others in the plastic.I tried several good quality new replacement tips I had in stock and they all tinned without error or oxidisation. In the photo my own tip is the shiny one on the left, well plated. The right one is the black one that was in the iron on delivery and the middle tip is from the spares pack with the iron.So My Antex irons cost near 4 times what this kit cost, you get what you pay for and if you only want to use an iron very occasionally then this kit is fine, as long as you can tin the tips.

Soldering iron
The item is good enough for an amateur (which is what i am). Inexpensive but good enough for a novice solderer..(again) its what i am…so wasnt to sore on my pocket?meaning the cost….
