A respectful interpretation
Initially, I hadn't planned on buying this Kei Yuki figure -- but I was so impressed with the Play Arts Harlock figure I ultimately decided it made sense to complete the pair. There doesn't seem to be as many pictures or videos of this figure as there are for Harlock. This makes sense I suppose, after all -- Harlock is the star. Anyway, this was a small cause for concern as I like to research these pricier figures before taking a leap of faith. My biggest beef with this figure (at first) was the ridiculous busom. Most of the women (and men, honestly) are lacking any real curves in the original anime, but I reckon modern tastes demand a D-cup. All things considered, the updated body type is still represented fairly well -- and at least she isn't bursting out of her uniform. I guess that's the greater concern in this -- that the uniform is still true to it's original inspiration. To any other Harlock purists or female figure collectors -- we've seen worse examples of 'enhanced' female icons in animation and comics.Unlike Kei's counterpart Harlock, her paint job consists of more than just gold trim and highlights. A concerted effort was made to give her uniform a 'sheen' that would resemble a shiny leather or polymer fabric. There are numerous tints and tones and apparently, this is where many of the complaints come from. I have read about globs of paint and even partial fingerprints marring the paint job. My figure is free of any of these types of flaws, so clearly I am one of the lucky ones. If I had to describe the overall look of the paint job, I would say it almost looks like automotive paint. It's a very cool effect. The joints are pretty good and fairly tight. The left wrist doesn't want to budge and I don't want to force it. It's undoubtedly the thinnest joint on the figure. She comes with two guns, two identical guns. This is worth mentioning because you'll notice that both guns have a peg on one side, the same side. However, only one gun can be holstered -- and holstering that gun can be a bit of a challenge. On her right side there's a tiny strip of gold trim that can be removed -- it's so well-hidden I don't know if I ever would have found it on my own. This is such an amazing detail and it's almost shocking the sculptors went to such lengths to disguise the hole -- it makes you wonder then why they provided duplicate guns. I can understand the practicality of using the same mold, but why not clip the peg on the one gun before applying paint details, if for no reason but to bolster the illusion this is a quality, highly-detailed figure..? Particularly since this figure originally retailed for around $100? Again, not a big deal but a little strange. Finally, my one solid complaint - her elbow pads. This is easily the most oddball design decision regarding this figure. For whatever reason -- perhaps to make her elbows appear more rounded while bent -- the figure features these sort of free-floating elbow pads. It's almost guaranteed that one or both will be rattling around loose in your box when it arrives. The figure has u-shaped hinges on either elbow, and the pad has a horizontal shaft on the underside. It clips into place fairly easily, however it also comes off easily. Too easily. I debated leaving them unattached & storing them in the box, but ultimately decided to glue them on. I'm detracting one star for this -- it's really just such a bizarre design choice, and rather than appreciate it -- I'd sooner detract from the figure's value and permanently attach these pieces. In my review for the Harlock figure I explain how my expectations were lower than low, and how I was pleasantly surprised. Play Arts Kai can really drop the ball sometimes, but in the case of these Captain Harlock figures -- I have to say they really did a good job. I think the quality is exceptionally high on both figures, despite some peculiar if not nonsensical design choices. Kei Yuki is slightly less impressive than her male counterpart, but is still a fine representation of the character.I have no remorse from buying either figure.

Great Figure Marred by Serious Quality control issues
Figure is gorgeously sculpted, and a great representation of the character, however Quality control on this is pretty shoddy. Several white paint dots in places they shouldn't be, as well as elbow pads that just don't stay on. Also I recieved the item brand new and sealed, but upon opening it discovered the nuts and bolts used to construct the display base were missing, an obvious factory error as the rest of the display base was still sealed in its blister. Luckily I had an extra Play Arts display base lying around. Anywho, Love the character, like the sculpt and presentation of the figure, but Someone in charge of painting and packaging over at Square Enix needs to get fired yesterday.

Awesome Figure.
Been awhile since I watched the old anime of this, but this is a good update to Kei Yuki. The detail is awesome just like most of the other Play Arts Kai figures. If theres any negative to this figure its that her ball joins in her feet are kinda loose, but that just may be my figure, so its hard to get her to stand in some poses. But overall I highly recommend it.

skinny model for the price
Best to go to a store and see the figure in person. Quality control is always at 85% again with Square Enix some factory slacker or something, i buy from all over the net and same thing. My figure came with chip marks on the back and albow caps popped out. Leg joints are so light and loose. I hope yours will be better. This figure Pros are - its sexy and stylish just like the movie. overall Articulation is 70% due to the design, nothing like figmas figures.Cons - hard to stand alone without base. only 1 gun can be holstered.

Save paint QC, solid bang for your buck.
I would have given this 5 stars had it not been for the white paint flecks littering different parts of this figure. Obvious QC issues. Amazing sculpt and joint manipulation.

Great figure with a flawed delivery.
She's a beautiful figure. Mines just came in today... but it seems too used.. She has scratches and paint marks all over the place. I opened the package she was in and the stand she comes with was broken up and the box was already open. Her belt is on upside down and glued to her. And the paint on the skull of her belt is all off and scratched up.. and she has crooked fingers... I'm very upset about this.. but she is indeed a very beautiful figure..
