Fantastic EDC Knife — Smooth, Sharp, and Reliable
The Vosteed Raccoon EDC Pocket Knife has quickly become one of my favorite daily carries. The 3.25” blade strikes a perfect balance between compactness and utility — big enough for real work, but small enough to stay comfortable in the pocket. The action is impressively smooth right out of the box. The knife deploys effortlessly, locks up solid, and has zero blade play. The edge came razor sharp and has held up well through everyday tasks like opening packages, cutting rope, and light outdoor use. The ergonomics are excellent too. It feels secure and comfortable in the hand, with a well-designed handle that gives great control. The pocket clip is sturdy and keeps the knife in place without being overly tight. Overall, the Vosteed Raccoon delivers outstanding quality for the price. If you’re looking for a dependable, well-crafted EDC knife, this one is hard to beat. Highly recommended!

Racoon Rocks Right Out the Box!
Best value knife under $200. Checks all the boxes for EDC on Quality, value, cost, functionality, action, weight, durability, blade material, sharpness, size and overall appearance. A solid choice...can't go wrong here. Vosteed did it right.

Better than 300 dollar benchmade
Great knife. Has a good fit in my hand and that crossbar lock is so crisp. Feels a lot smoother than my benchmade. Blade is sharp and overall a durable edc knife. Also that colorway with the micarta is slick.

Solid EDC Knife
I already own and love the Raccoon with aluminum scales and crossbar lock, so I thought I'd grab a second one to use as a beater in the woods. Wanting to try something a little different, I went with the button lock and white G10 scales figuring I'd dye them to suit my preferences. Like my other Raccoon, the blade shape and geometry make for a good slicer. The 14C28N has a good heat treat, sharpening easily and retaining that edge with the occasional touch up on the strop. The handle, while not especially unique, offers a comfortable grip with no hot spots under hard use. The ability to use the choil to choke up on the blade is a perk. The button lock is smooth and secure, easily dealing with a spine whack test. While neither the cross bar or button lock are especially known for providing a strong detent, this knife does flick open positively with the thumb studs. It is important to note however, the blade will fall open with a sharp flick of the wrist without having to depress the lock. One of the reasons I love the aluminum scales on my other Raccoon is the additional weight and substantial feel in the hands. The G10 scales offer a bit more grip and are obviously quite a bit lighter but don't feel quite as "high end". Regardless, it's an excellent knife for the price and spends a good bit of time in my pocket.

Homerun. Perfectly executed.
This is the version it is supposed to be. I also have the "button" lock version but it falls a little flat. This crossbar verion is perfect. Everything is perfectly done on this Copper Dune variant. The color combo is perfect, the pivot pin tension is perfect, its sharp, the clip has flat countersunk screws, there's a filler plate, crossbar can be manipulated with one or both studs, they've also included spare springs. I can't find a single thing bad about it. Worth every penny.

Vosteed Racoon (crossbar lock) with PEI/Ultem handles - excellent EDC
This version of the Racoon knife is a keeper. The crossbar lock has decently strong springs and has worked well for me so far. I use it for everyday tasks including opening packages; plastic wrap on cases of bottled water; and for breaking down cardboard boxes and containers. It fits well in my XL hand and the PEI/Ultem handles have a good texture to them and are comfortable since all the edges are nicely rounded. The factory edge and tall flat grind make for a respectable slicey blade for what I use it for. I have a button-lock version of the Racoon with Micarta handles and I like the PEI/Ultem handles just a bit more. The PEI/Ultem texture is a bit more grippy which I like. Action is very similar and satisfying between the two. The detent on this one is perfectly designed as well. With the thumstuds, the blade flies open with a muted "tunk" sound. Only downside for me (and it's minor) is that the jimping on top of the blade is not as grippy or extended as I would like. Overall, I like this model and carry it a lot. Recommended.

Solid price for this knife
I purchased this knife since I did not yet own one with a crossbar lock. I wanted to see what all the fuss was about, and I know there have been criticisms about the button lock version of this knife. I still don't know if I prefer a button lock or crossbar lock. There are features to like about both, but I think the action feels better with the crossbar. I think this is to do with the pressure against the blade. To me, button locks feel like the blade just flops open and flops shut with zero tension. The design and build of the knife is quite good, except the placement of the pocket clip. It could have been moved closer to the end to make it even more deep carry. They did make up for this a bit by recessing the pocket clip and using flush mounted screws. Another nice feature related to the pocket clip was not leaving an open depression for a pocket clip on the opposite side for the lefties. They placed a piece of metal with screws in the depression. I hate when these are left open because it looks incomplete. This is a fine little knife for a comfortable carry when a larger knife isn't suitable (I usually carry a bit bigger of a blade). The workmanship, style, and function are a great deal at the asking price. It is a knife that will stay in my collection and not be gifted to get rid of it.
