A must for fresh coffee beans.
Larger than I expected. Works very well with good vacuum. If you like to keep your coffee beans fresh this is the container for you.

Very good
I’ve had this for four years now and can’t really fault it, when I 1st bought it it seemed to work intermittently but has now been very reliable

Plastic but good
This works well but there are a few points to be aware of. First the cannister is made of a silver coloured plastic rather than metal. The vaccum is created by a battery powered electric pump which is activated when the lid is closed. This is powered by 4 AA batteries in the base (Batteries not supplied). The cover for the battery compartment rotates into a lock position but doesn't seem too secure and could dislodge. The specifications on Amazon say dishwasher safe but because the main cannister contains electronics I can't see how this can be so indeed the pictogramme instructions indicate that you shouldn't put the cannister under a tap and should just wipe the outside clean. There is an inner clear plastic container that the beans or grounds sit in and this can be removed and cleaned but the instructions don't say specifically that it is dishwasher safe as far as I can see. The packaging just says "easy to clean".I've only had this for about a week so its too soon to comment on long term reliability but the unit certainly keeps the beans fresh and you get a wonderful aroma from the beans stored in it when you open the lid. It's very easy to operate. As advertised it will store 500g of beans which almost fill the inner container.I have given this four stars. The vaccum sealing and the way it keeps the coffee fresh are worth five stars but the fact that it's plastic rather than stainless steel and issues with the cover on the battery compartment bring the score down. You also can't put the thing in the dishwasher.

Good idea in theory but Delonghi's application lets them down.
Delonghi should have taken this idea back to the drawing board a long time ago. There are two major flaws to the application of this design.1) It is expensive to run, using ordinary disposable batteries as it does and with the pump having to act every 12 hours to maintain an acceptable vacuum.2) After a period of time (according to the my experience and other reviews on here, anywhere between a few weeks and a year or so) it loses its ability to maintain a vacuum for more than an hour, rendering it useless and an expensive waste of money. As Delonghi don't appear to sell any spare parts for this product it won't be long before you end up consigning it to the bin. Delonghi and, to a lesser extent Amazon, are therefore damaging their reputation with this product. It should be withdrawn from sale and Delonghi should concentrate on designing a replacement that works in a similar way but is more reliable. In the meantime, save your money and buy the much cheaper and much more reliable Vacu Vin Coffee and Tea storage jar - same principle but you use a hand pump and the seal is replaceable with the standard vacu vin stopper if it starts to let you down.

Works surprisingly well!
I discovered this canister by accident when looking for a new jar to keep my ground coffee in. At first I thought it might be a bit gimmicky - but it really works well! The vacuum pump runs on 4 AA batteries, which are not supplied, and a four-position slider-switch allows you to set how often the pump runs. The first setting creates a vacuum each time the container is closed, the second, third or fourth allows this to be maintained every 12, 24 or 48 hours if required. A button on the top indicates the internal pressure - fully depressed means a good vacuum. The large inner container can be removed for washing and is dishwasher safe - the other parts should only be cleaned with a damp cloth. I have a DeLonghi coffee machine and this container is a perfect companion for it. Nicely made, as you would expect from the brand, this is a product I have been pleased to find - although only found by chance. If you like your coffee fresh give this DeLonghi a go - you may be surprised how well it works!

Good idea, but poorly implemented
Great idea, but it’s poorly designed. I had to return the first one as vacuum kept going. The replacement works ok but it’s fiddly to set up and plastic feels poor quality

Does the Job
This item does the job of keeping my coffee beans in good condition until I put them in the hopper of the espresso machine so for that it is 100% OK. I have not had any real problems with loss of vacuum although one can hear the motor run every few days as the vacuum is topped up. That is not a problem but when the bean level gets low resulting in more air in the canister it can take a while forth motor to restore the vacuum. The same when it is opened to remove beans. When the level is low it takes a while to build a vacuum up again. My only real beef is that it looks a lot nicer in the pictures than it does in real life. The pictures give the impression of nice modern stainless steel but in the flesh it does look like what it is, painted plastic. For painted plastic I think it is a little on the expensive side.
