Curate's egg
Certainly some good stuff here but what can you say about a cookbook with a recipe for pea & ham soup that doesn't actually contain any peas?

Great food whether camping or not
Few things ( well apart from the rain, the cold , the ropey toilets , the shower queues ... and trying to put a tent up) - put me off camping more than how bad so much camping food was . That seemed to be , because as a child , tins were the order of the day and still in many places camp shops sell only convenience foods nowadays .This book shows , however, that this need not be the case. Not only does it include excellent recipes - all of which are one pot recipes - but there is extremely helpful advice about what to take with you , how to store it - , what to drink with the food . The benefits of a hardy little stove with a grill rather than just a one pan only primer stove are all clearly set out and even how to make a barbecue from a washing machine drum .The recipes although generally simple are very much Mediterranean influenced but also are not entirely summery so they include recipes very suitable for those days when camping on a cold night or when it has been raining and the kids are bored with being in a tent !This is not , however, a book that will only appeal to the glampers who get Ocado to deliver their groceries to the camp site - it is very practical , uses few luxury ingredients ,recognises the limitations when you are camping and the demands on your time when camping with your children in particular .Moreover, it is not just a book for camping - the recipes will all work just as well in your kitchen .An excellent book , charmingly written and very down to earth - strongly recommended !

Posh grub!
I think my camping cooking box will have to have a revamp! The recipes in this book are wide and varied. From really simple 'breakfasts'/snacks to hour long cooking stews. Beautifully written with short tales as to the origin of the recipe and possible options and some fantastic photography.Josh is obviously a massive foodie - you'd have to be to have a bunch of asparagus tattooed on your arm!!I'm going to select a couple of recipes to try and make sure I've got the ingredients with me to get me going. I'm not a hardened camper but do really enjoy it. As I get more experienced my camp cook box will hopefully get stocked more appropriately.Worth buying as like many said in their reviews - what's to stop you trying the recipes out at home first. Great for the likes of me who live in caravans too as the recipes all require minimal utensils.

An essential part of the camping kit.
I camp a lot and cooking outside with fresh, local ingredients is a big part of the fun but I sometimes lack inspiration.Josh Sutton has resolved this with a book packed full of great ideas with straight forward yet tasty recipes. There are some variations on family favourites and lots of new ideas, with no pretentious ingredients and just about everything easy to cook on a 2-ring camping stove. There are even suggestions on what to drink with most of the recipes - a great excuse to raid the wine aisle of the local supermarket!Aside from the great recipes, the book is very light-hearted and fun to read in its own right. There are tips on sourcing local ingredients and what equipment you might need and the wonderful colour photos finish everything off nicely. All in all a fantastic book which will definitely improve meal times in our tent. One last thing, if you only cook one thing from this book make it the Monty Zoomer. You'll never eat another bacon sandwich for breakfast!

Not for the typical camper
A nice book. But the food is not for the typical camper. You need a fridge for most of what is needed, and a lot of ingredients, which are not available in your typical campsite / countryside store. It has dishes that you would cook at home with a big spice and herb rack and all the utensils. The photographs just show it being cooked next to a campervan, very misleading. If you are in a tent (guyrope), then forget it.Need stuff like - pestle & mortar, stock pot, paella pan, wok, griddle pan to make stuff like partridge, quail, pheasant, lobster.Great pictures though and a nice format.

Everyone needs this book!
I am not a very imaginative cook and don't always have a huge list of ingredients at hand so this book appealed to me to try to increase my repertoire! I was delighted not only with the great ideas (I love the idea of cooking an egg inside a slice of scooped out french bread!) but the stories alongside the recipes, lovely photographs and illustrations - it's a fun book to read even if your not looking for a recipe! Now I'm desperate for a campervan!!

Fantastic book.
I saw the Guyrope Gourmet on a local tv programme and found his enthusiasm in sourcing and cooking local produce inspiring. Happily this book doesn't disappoint. It is crammed full of fantastic pictures and mouth watering recipes which should not be reserved just for the campsite. The text is written in an easy manner which immediately draws you in and the tips on what kit to pack are really useful. I would highly recommend this cook book to anyone who loves food.

Fantastic and inspirational
A fantstic book, that the camping market has been lacking. I read this book from cover to cover on the day it arrived. Great layout and illustrations. We are avid campers and enjoy cooking (and eating)good food on the campsite, this has really inspired me and certainly broadens your horizons on what you can do on a basic camping stove. Highly recommended. Well done Josh Sutton.
