Q: does this work with pi zero wh the one with pins?

Looking on the retro flag website it states that it is compatible with pi zero, but not Pi0-WH(with GPOI pins soldered)

Gpicase2w+zero1 may not have a pre installed patch and script system to download. You need to download the gpicase1+zero system, burn and initialize it, and manually modify the patch file according to the instructions on the Github website.

The Pi Zero itself is responsible for all processing. Your issue is likely that you're using an emulation core that doesn't have a bios file for the GBA. Either add the bios to your system or switch cores and you'll be fine.
