These do not work! They caused me to overwater my plants!

I like the convenience to know if I was watering to much or to little.

These moisture meters take the guesswork out of watering. We tried container gardens this year, and the ground always looks so dried out, so we watered often. Getting these meters let us know that the deeper ground still had moisture, even if the surface looked dry. Having two different lengths of probes helps us check the deeper pots too, and our elderberries that are in the ground instead of a pot. I didn't give 5 stars for accuracy, since I could stick two different meters in the same pot and get two different readings. However, that could be technique, or even truly be both wet and dry in the same pot, depending on where the meter hits. After I give these a try for the rest of the growing season, I may come back and add a star once I get used to using the meters.

If I went off of what these say I would have killed my plants from over watering. They were supposed to help, not the opposite.Frustrating!:/

I thought these had batteries, but it doesn't. You just stick it in the ground and it registers a reading. I have noticed that the deeper I push the sensor into the ground, the more water the sensor finds there. This makes sense since the surface dirt is baked in the Alabama sun so it is dry at the surface. I was interested to find that slightly below the surface the soil is moist, which as a gardener, tells me to plant my plants deeper. This is very useful in the garden and I will use it a lot.
