Bottarga Di Muggine (Grey Mullet Roe) - Whole - L'Oro di Cabras, Sardinia, Italy

I was happy with the purchase, I would buy it again. I was a little concerned with the color when I received it , it was much darker than the picture, and I have never cooked with it before, so I was not sure what it should look like. However, I grated it over pasta with some olive oil, capers, and roasted garlic, and I thought it was great, but I have never had it before, so I have no frame of reference with which to compare it. The shipping was prompt.

And they even told me to keep the old one. So I'm raising my grade to 5 star for the taste and even more for the outstanding service. As I see it mistakes can happen to anyone - but taking ownership of them and correcting them is what makes the difference!Original review===============I was really looking forward to getting this as it is a favorite of mine (I usually get it with relatives from France). But... When it arrived it had a very dark brown color instead of brown redish as it should be. It is clearly a very old product and it will be returned un-opened... :-(

Took a while to arrive but once it was here it was pretty good. Have had it once and there is only about enough for two meals for two people so it is definitely pricey but for an indulgence once in a while not too bad. Could probably find it somewhere in SF for about the same price without paying the unreasonable shipping cost so I'll probably look around for the future.

I bought a small package of Bottarga di Muggine (grey mullet roe) and was not quite sure how to use it. Received an e-mail from Gustiamo with encouragement and recipes. Made all the difference. This is a small company who takes great care of its customers, and I will certainly make purchases from them again.

Always loved bottarga, and this one was great. Slightly bitter and somewhat short in salt, but gourgeous with the receipt that I received from the seller.
