Quality construction, convenient, lots of storage, recommend this unit to anyone!!
I purchased the Sherpak go 15 cartop carrier just a few days before making the trip from Central Ohio to Virginia Beach. I had considered getting the Sherpak 20, but went with the 15 due to lower price and very positive reviews! (Thanks Amazon users!) I have a few thoughts/comments about the unit.1. You can fit a LOT of "stuff" in the cartop carrier. I personally put in 1 Large suitcase, 2 smaller roller carryon type cases. A pack-n-play , a few pillows, two beach chairs, 1 beach skim board, 2 kids sized body boards for the ocean, and a baby pool / water floating "thingy." lol. There may have been a few extra items I put inside of it, but I can't recall right now.I didn't use my wagon on this trip with the roof rack bars, but instead used the straps on it to affix to the roof of a 2012 Honda Accord. I purchased the Sherpak "pad" that goes on your roof for this as well. I'm not sure how it would have worked without it, but I highly recommend the roof pad. I know the unit was extremely secure with it, and it also helped provide the piece of mind that I wouldn't be scratching the roof.2. Be sure you fill this thing up as much as possible! If doing over again, I would put soft(er) items toward the front of the carrier to ensure that the wind-facing side is as full as possible. What I mean by this, is that you want to make sure the front keeps it's form. One of the forward-facing corners didn't get fully packed in. I got a higher degree of wind noise when it caved in a tad. (Actually it was REALLY loud and annoying until I adjusted things on the roof as best I could. Not a big deal knowing this in advance for next time!)3. I think the Sherpak 20 Elite would probably be a really great purchase as well. On my wagon, equipped with the rack/rails, I'm sure it would fit nice and secure. However, if you aren't packing everything PLUS the kitchen sink, it might be slightly more difficult to fill that sucker up. Also, I'm not sure how well it would work on a sedan like the Accord.4. Users are correct about water leaking into the car. We hit some rain on the way to VA Beach. When you are driving at high rates of speed on the freeway, there isn't as much time for the rain to soak directly into the straps, and into the vehicle. (Again, for those who haven't purchased these, you have to run the straps through the doors, snap them together, and tighten them down. You have some straps above your heads in the car while driving. Really wan't a big deal, just pointing out for those considering the purchase.) We hit some VERY bad stop/go traffic due to some accidents, and it was raining pretty good. Drips of water were coming into the car and dropping on us every so many seconds. Again, not an issue of their design, and it had been called out previously. I would just recommend that if you can use roof rails, you wouldn't have to worry about this being an issue.5. Even with the rain, everything inside of the Sherpak remained completely dry. I felt the construction and sturdyness of the unit was great. You didn't feel like it was a flimsy unit strapped to the top of your car. I ended up leaving the deflated Sherpak in the trunk of the car while we were on vacation. On the drive down, it enabled us to keep the items we needed quick access to in the trunk, without being totally jam-packed! After we got back from vacation, I scrubbed the Sherpak down with soap and water, letting it dry in the sun. Being nice and warm kept the unit very malleable and easy to fold. I ended up folding the unit back up best I could, and putting back into the original box, along with the roof pad. I'm not storing this in my attic, as I read several reviews commenting about the material breaking down due to the extreme temperatures. Keeping it in my basement instead.Addressing MPG concerns: I had used a family members vehicle on this trip, so I wasn't super familiar with the typical MPG (no digital gauge either, so calculated manually) If memory serves me right, I think we averaged around 19MPG with the roof rack on, at least at a certain point. That could have been due to a variety of factors though. 1 - The car was loaded down with 2 adults, 2 kids, and a boatload of stuff in the roof an trunk! The corner of the Sherpak was grabbing some additional wind resistance on the corner, and it was a bit windy on the trip down (and was the V6 model). The slight decrease in MPG is just the "cost of doing business" for the additional convenience it added! In summary, for the approximate $100 price point I spent on this unit, I am VERY pleased with it. Quality construction, and very convenient going on vacation. Not having to hunt for space in the trunk & car like a jigsaw puzzle was awesome! I would definitely recommend this unit to anyone searching for a soft roof top carrier for vacation, or anything else. The Sherpak 20 would also be high on my list, but only if you are sure you can fill it up, and have adequate roof space on your vehicle. Super happy with my purchase, and would do it over again. Recommend this unit to all!

High quality, easy to install, great value
I used this product on an 8-day roadtrip from San Diego, CA to Seattle, WA. It was very easy to install on my older Honda CRV's naked roof. Thought this item does not come with instructions, the instruction manual is free online -- Google "Sherpak Go Roof Installation" and it's the first link that pops up. It stayed secure the entire time. I also bought the pad separately and I definitely recommend using that. I zip-tied the unused straps so they would not flap in the wind; it was quiet and I would often forget it was even there. This bag fits a lot of stuff, though you need to be mindful of the weight because if it's packed too heavy, any roof bag can dent the roof of your car. You should aim to pack the bag with weight distributed as evenly as possible to help prevent this. I did not have any rain, but my things did stay dry in the morning dew. The bag can get very hot if left out in direct sunlight, with no breeze for long periods of time. I tried to park in the shade as much as possible but inevitably you'll be parked in the sun at some point. No damage to my things, including plastic vacuum bags for clothes, but something to be mindful about when packing.

great for the price, surpassed expectations
I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of this product. I was skeptical of a non hardened case but unwilling to spend that much money. With this I got a great quality product for a lot less that worked flawlessly and was easy to use. I made a round trip of over 1100 miles with this at speeds of 75-80 mph for large portions and really barely noticed it was there. There was no apparent wear at all from that trip in both hot sun (100+) and some pouring rain as well. Easy to put on, straps are easily adjustable to fit your roof rack frame, closes easily with flaps over zippered part to keep out rain. The only issue I had at first was the extra length of straps would whip around in the wind and make some noise. But after the first pit stop I simply tied the ends of those long straps together and put them under the other cross straps and it never made any more noise. When I arrived unloading was an easy 5 minute task and the product folded up and stored in a closet easily until the return trip. Loading the second time was even easier once I knew what I was doing. Great product, great quality, great price, shipped quick too.

Good value, easy to use.
We have found the Sherpak Go 15 to be very helpful. It holds a good amount of stuff, is easy to use and packs away nice and small. We did go through some heavy rain on our drive and did find that there was some leakage, but nothing major. I just wouldn't pack anything up there that would be a problem if it got wet. Overall a good value.
