Does what it's supposed to do
Our 3-year old rescue cat is very much an outdoor girl, but we don't have nor want a cat flap. With the nights getting colder we were not keen to leave a door or window open so she could come and go as she pleased, and she had also recently become a mousing ace... This "doorbell" seemed like a viable solution, so we bought one two months ago and it has worked well and done the job as hoped. We chose the Pink Panther theme tune from the available audio alerts. The flashing lights accompanying the alarm are bright and difficult to miss, and both the sound and lights last 5-10 seconds after activation. The receiver is small enough to fit in a shirt pocket if it is necessary to move about the house and one is concerned about missing the alarm if it is left in another room. The range seems pretty good (at least 25m, with several walls/doors/sizeable objects between the receiver and the sensor) and the sensor appears to be rain-resistant. Obviously it can't discriminate between objects moving in front of the sensor so there have been one or two false alarms, e.g., when a strong wind was blowing fallen leaves across the driveway. However, that is a minor quibble and overall this has been a very good and useful purchase, which I would certainly recommend. Thank you.

Works a treat
Pleasantly surprised this works so well. Live the choice if sounds and is sturdy enough to survive rain, snow and even a storm that had the detector flung across the patioWas disappointed it didn't have an on/off switch as described but hasn't been a prob - just turn it to lights only setting when we need to

Cat doorbell
Absolutely brilliant. I bought this doorbell about 4 years ago and it's still in perfect working order. To protect it from the rain I cut the bottom of a lemonade bottle to put over the top and then cut out a slot at the front to make sure sensor wasn't covered and I think that's why it's lasted so long.

One of the most useful purchases for some time
Purchased to save us sitting with a front door propped open or having to keep jumping up to check for a cat who will only use the front door instead of the cat flap used by the enemy (her younger brother). You can set the receiver to lights only, sound only or sound and light. The small button with the musical note next to it allows you to choose from a variety of alarm sounds, some of which are 'unusual' to say the least. We have it set to sound and lights and the sound is set to play the start of the Pink Panther theme tune, which still makes us smile. There's a good enough range for the sensor to trigger the receiver anywhere in the house, but I don't think it extends much beyond that if at all. We haven't fixed the sensor in any one position as it can give false alarms if strong light and shadow fall across it or the wind is blowing nearby plants about too much, so it's handy to be able to move it around. It sits quite happily on the front door step or peeping over the top of a plant pot. It has stood up to some strong winds and rain outside, but we bring it back in when 'Her Majesty' has come back in or when we're not in to hear the receiver. No idea how long the batteries last, but so far it's one of the most useful things I've bought for some time.

Stopped working after a year
Great initially but the the IR sensor failed and kept flashing and setting off the ringer. Very disappointing!

Works well
I had low expectations. Casing and graphics on the receiver are a bit cheap and nasty but the outdoor unit is well made and weatherproof. The red sensor light gives the cat feedback that a signal has been sent, so wait at the door for your slave to open up - it only took a couple of days for mine to to get the idea, and she's no genius. Range is good, I take the alert unit to my upstairs office. Very bright alert lights in disco mode. Audio rarely used as this unit will trigger with wrens during the day and rodents at night - or bright direct sunlight. My only gripe is the sensor bracket is curved so can't stand on its own - see bodge job frame in photo. Batteries have not been replaced since installed. An unexpected recommend!

Excellent, the cat is detected and it rings and flashes
This is great. The cat sits on the step and it activates the unit with your chosen sound, volume and can be set to flash. The colours are lovely. No longer to I have to keep getting up to check if the cat is outside. I can go anywhere in the house with the portable bell unit. I like the tinkly musical tune as the cat isn’t bothered by it. She realises the sound indicates someone will come. The motion detector has been ok in the rain. It’s great and battery operated. No drilling etc.
