Reptile Heat Mat By Critters UK (7 Watt (15x28cms))

I know I only purchased the 5 watt version, but even so, I expected some heat to come off this thing. Even with my fingers on it, I am not entirely sure if any heat is being generated? Am I imagining a hint of warmth? All the pre purchase warnings about needing thermostats and guarding against the risks of fire clearly made me over cautious! You couldn't start a fire with the thing if you smothered it in dry hay, left it on in the Sun, and used a fire lighter. I wanted it to keep locusts warm while in their tank waiting to be my lizards lunch. Unless I have a faulty item, you clearly need to get a higher wattage to have any real heat generated. The 5 watt one I have received is useless. Even inside the small tank they are kept in, it has no impact on the temperature at all. Disappointing.Pete

I already have two of these for heating up the sleeping area of baby hedgehogs. I have just ordered a third. No problems with the heating at all and no worry of harming the hoglets as I have left plenty of room for them to move away from it.

Very good quality and had the right type of plug that I can take apart and feed through the little holes in my vivarium then reattatch and plug in. Bravo !! My royal python loves it
