Not worth it
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I purchased this before I even received my new sound bowl because of the reviews. Based on what I was reading I felt this mallet would be much better than the mallet that comes with the bowl so I purchased it. Although this mallet is durable, I gave it 1 star for a few reasons. For one, the price. This mallet was almost $40 which in my opinion, especially after using it, is not worth it at all!The color. It says this is a rainbow aura mallet. Nothing about this is “rainbow aura” if you’re thinking crystal terms. The colors are really a hot ass mess to me. A bright neon yellow with a green stripe & an orange stripe. I was thinking maybe the colors in the picture was off & it would look better in person but nope, it looks just like the photo.Comparing this to the basic mallet that came with my sound bowl, with this mallet it does give loud sound quickly where as the basic mallet I have to strike a few times to get loud sound. However when sliding the mallet around the bowl, this crystal mallet makes a grinding/scratching type of sound. Hard to explain but hopefully you can tell in the video. When I use the basic mallet, you can’t hear this scratching sound. Also, the mallet arrived dirty as if it was used before already. It had specs of brown/black stuff stuck in the grooves. Like other reviewers said, it is hard to clean, but I shouldn’t have to clean it off just taking it out of the package.Oh yeah, the mallet was literally just thrown in a bag. No case, tag, nothing. For the price I paid I expected better. I will be returning & sticking with the good “basic” mallet that came with my sound bowl.

It's not a perfect solution
This does produce a lovely, smooth sound when strumming a crystal singing bowl, however, you must be careful to keep it at a certain angle or else you get an awful scraping sound if the mallet is held too straight in alignment with the outside of the bowl. Also, the outside texture of the mallet is rubbery feeling, kind of tacky, and it attracts a lot of grit, dust, hair, etc. It's impossible to keep it clean of debris. It's a good mallet but it's not the solution to perfect crystal bowl strumming.

Spendy, but nice sound & nice to work with
I have been used to using the wooden, rubber tipped ones [that I have to replace the tips on, every now and then] or the suede ones [which I don't care for, as well]. I don't yet know about the durability of this rubber mallet over time [to withstand drying out]. It certainly can't be worse than the the rubber-tipped ones, though those are, at least, cheap/easy to replace. However, It seems like this rubber mallet will last awhile [?]. I do know that it brings the sound out from the bowls beautifully, in a smoothly controlled fashion....a nice tool to work with.

... scratchy but this ‘stroker’ tool evens the tone out beautifully. Highly recommend
Quartz crystal bowls can sound scratchy but this ‘stroker’ tool evens the tone out beautifully. Highly recommend it

The best mallet for crystal bowls and gong
This is my go-to mallet for my crystal bowls, it aids the production of quality sound. Does not leave a friction after-tone, and I feel it is more gentle on my bowls than the regular rubber mallet. It gets a little grummy but washes quickly. Nice as a friction mallet across the gong as well, steady even tone. I am purchasing 2 more because when we play as a family everyone wants this one.

made of plastic not glass
i've been playing crystal singing bowls for years. i have a wealth of strikers... i spent the extra money for two of these bc they were described as a glass/crystal tube wrapped in silicone. it's actually plastic wrapped in silicone. if you play frosted bowls, then the silicone is probably better -- the sound of rubbing the rim of the bowl is alleviated with silicone. if you play alchemy/clear quartz bowls, silicone is not worth it -- stick with sueded mallets/strikers.

So glad I purchased this
So glad I purchased this. This one causes less sound to be made while rubbing it against the crystal bowl. The vibration is much smoother as well. My students immediately heard the sound quality and it made it even nicer. Def worth the costs.
