Really Good Introduction/Overview of the Interior Design Profession
I got this book for an intro level course to an Interior Design program in College. Anyone considering entering the field of Interior Design should get this book. It introduces you to all the different areas an interior designer needs to learn to work in the field. Then of course more in depth study is needed to actually work as a designer.

Classic Text?
I’m not an interior designer but I can imagine professors giving out reading assignments and issuing tests from it. So for me I’d say yeah it’s a classic!

Art history, furniture, and more!
This book really helped with providing a historical background for design throughout the centuries, and does so in a very consice, well written way thats easy to understand, remember and give context and understanding to design movments, prominent figures, and furniture throughout history. If you feel like you could use a buffer in your art history or design history, this book wont leave you dissapointed. The bibliography has been expanded a lot in this edition and provides a lot of valuable further links and materials you may choose to expand upon.

really helpful textbook!
This book really helps me a lot in understanding the histury of furniture(I bought it as a textbook for my history of furniture classes). It covers the information well and one thing I really like is, there is a list of vocabularies related to the interior design, decoration, and furniture on couple pages at the back of the book! If I don't know a vocabulary, I don't need to figure it out through my dictionary, but I just need to see the back pages of the book:] Super booook!

Great Resource
This book is a great resource for anyone who wants to get into interior decorating. Although the book is large and rather heavy, it will end up being your go-to resource for everything from design styles, color theory, lighting, flooring, furniture arrangement and many more things.

and this is such a great source, which I enjoy having for personal use
I had a previous edition from the New York School of Interior Design, when I took a course there, and this is such a great source, which I enjoy having for personal use.

Professors Reconsider Using
I've had to use this book for two semesters for a class. It is impractical in the way it is organized and doesn't offer any supplemental help for studying. Perhaps this book was not intended for school use, but if it was then I can not say that I feel its information was of any pertinence. I really disliked how the chapters are organized by a brief history and synopsis of the style followed by examples of that style and then having the ornament, furniture, etc in the back of the book that combines all the styles without necessarily noting if a chair is in one style or the other. It was once it got this section of ornament and furniture, that I felt it was disconnected from the rest of the organization of the book.I also found the writing to be lengthy and wordy, with some sentences being either a run-on sentence or a heavy use of pleonasms, and never even getting to the point in some cases. Either way this book was one of the most difficult books I have had to get through with little reward in the end.

Old but works
The book is used, but no pages missing. Its is a good book, but since it is a previous edition, I am constantly looking for the pages that my instructor wants me to read. But for the price, I can deal with it. Shipment as expected. Too bad, that was an option for rushed shipment since I needed the book and my class has already resumed.Thanks.
