Gardening Sand Soil Compost Sifter Perfect for 5 Gallon Bucket (1, 1/4 Inch)

I use this to sift potting soil prior to winter sowing. The potting soil is full of wood chunks, small pebbles , even plastic that could prevent small seeds from germination and contact with moist soil. Works perfectly, and I believe fits over a bucket.

This was perfect for my task of screening gravel and mulch out of topsoil. I purchased a home where the flower beds had gravel dumped onto them 20 years ago. I wanted to replace the beds along the side of the house with just grass, so I had to get as much gravel out as possible before putting down grass seed. This allowed me to easily sift the top 2 inches of soil to get the junk out. By placing the screen onto a 5 gallon pain bucket, I could load in the gravel/junk/soil mixture, shake-shake-shake the bucket, and the soil would sift through leaving the junk in the strainer. Toss the junk, put the soil back, repeat. Took about a week so sift through about 400 sq ft of beds around the house, but now I have young grass growing there and it looks great. I could not have done this without the strainer, and it has held up like new.

This is the best sifter I have ever used. It comes in two mesh sizes. The 1 / 4” mesh size is perfect for sifting dirt and compost, it catches materials not wanted in garden or potting soil, but it is not too small making sifting slow and hard.The BEST feature is that it fits on a 5-gallon bucket, keeping the filtered soil together. Even using a wheel barrel my wooden frame sifter scatters the dirt all over.I sifted three wheel barrel’s of ‘used’ [depleted] potting soil quickly, making my rejuvenating/revitalizing soil job a breeze.It’s made of quality materials, and I know I’ll be using it for a long time. I highly recommend this product.

Fits a five gallon bucket perfectly. Very well constructed and easy to clean after use.

The decorative rocks around my (newly purchased) house have over the years sunk into the sand. I decided to clean out the beds, and was dismayed to see how far down the rocks had gone. Once you learn the technique of flipping the far side of the pan up, the sand quickly sifts out, and the grass and weeds tend to twine together for (maybe not easy, but possible) removal. Rocks remain so you can dump them and do another round. I was surprised at the sturdiness of the pan--no bending or distortion while banging the rocks up and down. This is just what I was looking for.

This garden sifter fit perfectly over a 5 gal bucket. The metal quality construction was top grade! Very unlikely this will ever rust and durable enough to handle garden river rock. Cannot believe I found the perfect garden accessory for my task.

Works good for the price

This is a great item. It fits a 5-gallon bucket perfectly. I can now sift my indoor potting mix without making a mess. It is also very heavy duty gauge wire. I was worried it would be like pasta strainer but this item is very heavy duty. It will handle any an all types of soil. With proper care and storage it should last a lifetime. Great item.

This stainless sieve was just what I needed for sifting gravel stones, etc. from garden topsoil. It is very handy to fit on a 5 gallon plastic pail.
