I have a ton of art and office supplies, including many sets of colored pens, pencils, and markers. So I'm always on the lookout for nice cases or holders for my ever-expanding collection. This pencil pouch caught my eye because of its wide mouth design whereby it stays open to reveal all its contents. I think this feature makes it a great place to store and access art materials or office supplies while working on a project. Right now, I have a set of about 20 Pentel Energel colored pens stashed inside. Although its capacity is listed at 55 pens or pencils, I don't think I would store any more pens in this pouch than what I have in there now because then it would be too hard to find and grab the particular colored pen I want to use at any given point in time. With 20 pens in there, I can easily see each color and can quickly access any one of them without having to dig around and hunt for a particular color. As other reviewers have pointed out, you could also used this pouch for storing a multitude of other things besides pens and pencils. I like the style option with the black exterior color and the fun, wild and vibrant-colored interior and zipper pull area, but if you want more pizzazz and punch, you could order it reversed. The pouch is well designed, well made, and seems reasonably priced. For these reasons, I would highly recommend it.

So I originally got this so that I could have a better pouch for my set of 100 colored pencils because I love the way this top opens up wide so I can see all the colors. However, it is very difficult for 100 colored pencils to fit. I had to remove 11 to get it to zip closed, but I did discover if I had it half zipped, I could ease the pencils in, one at a time, until all 100 fit inside. Surprisingly, they didn't burst out when I then unzipped the bag again. So, yes, it holds 100, but super-snugly. There's just not much side left when the top hinge is closed--if the bag were deeper it would be able to easily hold more. I actually have my 100 colored pencils in a 9in x 5.9in zipit bag (that claims it holds up to 60 pens), which ironically, is more "large capacity" than this bag, but doesn't have the nice opening. As is, I think I'm going to turn this into a dice carrier and tray. It would work well in both transporting dice and giving me a place to roll them. I love that the outside is "formal black" and the inside is crazy colored art doodles. It is well made and I do love the zipit brand. I love the top opening. This bag will definitely be put to good use, just not with my colored pencils.

I love the artwork on the lining of this case as it's fun and whimsical and makes me smile whenever I see it. I love it so much I don't want to use the case in fear of getting it dirty lol. So its been designated as a marker case to try and keep the fabric clean. I appreciate that the outside is a textured dark gray so dirt doesn't really show. The textured gray looks really beautiful, modern, and classy. The fabric is easy to spot clean with dish soap and a damp towel. The craftsmanship is pristine. The zipper is metal and consistently slides smoothly. The way the case is designed it reminds me of an old school doctor's bag that snaps shut by magnet in that the sides smoosh down towards the ground when opened and rise back up when zipped like an accordion (hopefully that makes sense). The thick material doesn't offer stretch so it can only be filled to a certain capacity for it to close and zip. I've found there's ample space for 100 thin Stabilo or Pigma illustration pens. There are 3 little bungee loops on the edge so it can be hooked into a 3-ring binder or hooked to a bag with a carabiner. I've found the zipper running past the edges of the bag on each side makes for a great makeshift carrying tab.

I really like this case. Unlike many of the Chinese pencil bags on Amazon this is a quality product. The material is sturdy, the seams are reinforced, the zipper works well, the rubber tab ("YO!") on the zipper makes it easy to get hold of, the colored accent cloth and liner are attractive, not tacky, and the case holds more than I thought it would. It even has 3 sturdy loops along one side if you want to hang it, and according to the description it's machine washable. I'm currently using it for drawing accessories, and it's stuffed with a 10-pack of Pentel Polymer Erasers, a 6-pack of kneadable erasers in plastic cases, a big Prismacolor sharpener and 2 standard pencil sharpeners, a 5-pack of pencil extenders, and 2 Mono-zero erasers with 2 refill packs and it all fits nicely (see photos). This little case could be used for a whole lot of things - a small tool bag for screwdrivers or wrenches, a prescription bag, a pipe smoking kit (would hold 2 pipes, a bundle of pipe cleaners, a lighter and tobacco pouch), a bag for electronics (chargers and cables), a microphone storage case, and yes, even to hold more pens or pencils than I thought it would. I need more - highly recommended!

EDIT: I changed this review to 1 star after realizing that the zipper does not close all the way. There is a gap and pens have fallen out. This opens up wide which is exactly what I wanted but it isn't a very large capacity. I'll keep looking to find this opening style in a bigger pouch.
