Q: Do you use this in place of a regular shaver? Can you use shave cream? Just thought this was a trimmer.

Short and swerve, yes, long answer ... it is water proof therefore shave cream and rising is fine. It is meant as a direct replacement for your regular close blade shaver or other electric razor. The "blades" last for me about 1.5 months with shaving coarse hair every daily. Its benefit is to reduce bumps and nicks. It gets about 98% as close as a blade razor and works wonders if you have sensitive skin like I do.

It is only recommend for use on humans.

I think the number of shaves you can get is contingent on how heavy your beard is. I've had mine a little over a month and used it about 10 times, on my heavy beard with my original blade and it seems to be wearing out. Based on product description and TV ads it gives a close shave. False. I can only get a decent one shaving in all directions- up, down, side to side, diagonal. Safest for the neck is just up and down .
