OK - should clearly state that a battery required
I somehow missed that a battery was needed in order for these headphones to work. I did read that a battery was included, but didn't think it was required. D'oh! There is an on/off button. Unfortunately, I doubt my eight year old will remember to turn it off all the time and most likely I'll have to stock up on batteries. Too much of a hassle. These were returned.

REQUIRES A BATTERY
BATTERY REQUIRED!!!!!! Headphones must be turned off to keep battery from running down. I bought two, one for each of my kids. My daughter's has a crackle sometimes. My son's power button broke off after 4 months.
