The pan is nice thick material. It heats more evenly than any skillet I have ever had. Love it! If there is a drawback it would be the design of the material itself. It makes it hard to see small bits of food stuck in it.

Updated review for this little 10" Phantom Chef die cast aluminum frying pan. It arrived without any information in regard to its care and use, so best to check out the Amazon site for this product and all the particulars in that regard. The first review I wrote for this pan was based on another frying pan (see below) and I apologize for the confusion.This frying pan is apparently non-stick and non-toxic and cooking up a couple of eggs in my usual fashion on a glass top stove they turned out fine. I have never cooked in a pan with this kind of a bottom before which is apparently a stainless-steel composite bottom plate and compatible with all stovetops. It didn't come with a lid so when the eggs were done, I had to search around for a cover to keep them warm until the rest of the meal was cooked. I would probably use this pan more if it had a lid. Also, the granite finish is a little off putting to me visually in terms of the speckled pattern. It has a salt and pepper look to it and for me at least seems more difficult to monitor what's going on with the food then a stainless-steel pan or one with a smoother finish. The handle has a wood grain look to it, is hollow and has a comfortable grip and feel.Great little 8-inch frying pan with matching glass lid. The nonstick granite coating complements the woodgrain design of the Bakelite handle and lid grip. Best of all it is 100% free of PFOA, PTFA, lead and cadmium so a healthy choice for cooking up eggs, or sauteing some vegies on my glass top electric stove. It is designed for medium or low heat and a wooden spoon or spatula is the recommended utensil to be used in the frying or cooking method. While it is apparently dishwasher safe the use guidelines suggest handwashing and corrosive cleaners are to be avoided along with overheating. I handwash most all my pots and pans so that is a nonissue for me.P.S. Unfortunately, I wrote this review for a similar smaller frying pan with a lid and posted it here. This one is still in the delivery process and once it arrives, I will reevaluate the post ASAP. So very sorry for the error.

I am very comfortable in the kitchen and I have many frying pans. I have a 12" All-Clad stainless, 10" Cuisinart stainless, and a couple of 7" Williams Sonoma ceramic non-stick omelette pans.I really like this frying pan. The non-stick coating works, it's heavy and the cast aluminum holds the heat very well. I am using this on a ceramic stovetop and it gets scorching hot when you want.When I first opened up the box I thought this was a bit cheesy. I didn't like the paint looking like granite, and the stainless steel handle painted like wood. My first thought was what is this going to smell like when I bring it to heat. Turns out it was nothing. The finish is solid .The curve of the sides is at a good angle with a large enough flat base to whatever you like.I would recommend this to anyone.

Very sturdy and good performance. I mostly got this as something to use when frying food. The size fits my large ceramic burner perfectly and the depth is perfect, enough to provide the space & depth needed to fry but uses less oil than a typical deep fryer. I have a tendency to catorigize my pans to specific uses, this definitely has its place. Recommend!

The media could not be loaded. This is an excellent pan! I wasn't expecting too much, with it being made out of scratchy granite material, but I was very surprised and impressed after cooking on it. It cooks well, and easy to clean after.I decided I would make some chorizo and eggs on it. This is something I make on a semi regular basis and always use Teflon coated pans. I really enjoy cooking, so any chance I get to try a new pan, is exciting. This did not disappoint, and did exceptionally well. The risk of trying, was worth the reward!If you enjoy cooking too, I think you'll be very pleased with this purchase!

Got this a few days ago but without any instructions on how to use it, I had to do what I usually do with new pans, and wash it by hand. I've got to read the ad again to see if I can put it in the dishwasher at all. The handle looks like wood, so I was afraid that it would go well in there. I made some burgers in there once it was washed, but using a bit of cooking spray, as they were turkey burgs. They cooked a bit weird - very watery - but they had been in the freezer (and to tell you the truth, I'm not even sure it was turkey meat!) so that may not have been the fault of the pan. I'll cook some sausages in it today, and I know how they cook, as I make them several times a week. I do however love the color of the pan. Very cool. And the granite look is also very neat. It is a bigger pan than I was expecting when I ordered, but that's not a bad thing, as I threw away all the non-stick pans I had that were scratched up last week after reading an article about how dangerous that is to use. However, without instructions, I'm not sure if I can use metal spatulas in this... I safely just used plastic ones, but like I said, I'm used to pans coming with a little round instruction sheet that's pasted on the inside or on the back that tells you use/care instructions. I miss that this doesn't have that. So I'll read the ad on it from Amazon after I finish this so I don't mess it up somehow. Very handy, very lovely, and very useful item. A+
