Complete Swedish Beginner to Intermediate Book and Audio Course: Learn to read, write, speak and understand a new language with Teach Yourself Paperback – 29 Oct. 2010

Because this was a gift I don't know very much about it except what I learned during the ordering process and then some glimpses nd snippets once my daughter had opened it. I am a languague teacher myself and it seemed to be the most complete teach yourself Swedish pack I could find on Amazon; because of the CD's it trains listening and speaking skills,as well as reading and writing. The set looks and feels very professional and the recipient is delighted with it.

Book is very good so far. Learning alot of useful words and phrases. The only problem is I felt the advertisement didn't really say that there was no CD included, and I expected the CD to come with it, as it is pretty much useless without the CD. Still a great book and I downloaded the audiobook version on ibooks so I could listen to the dialogues.

This product is wrongly described as having 'added learning features within the course and online', giving the web address to use to access this. On the front of the pack it tells you you can 'test yourself and learn more online'. When I tried to do this I searched the website and found nothing. I contacted the publishers who said 'this is an error on the book's cover and we do not currently have any additional online materials'. I would not recommend this to anyone. In addition, the paperback format of the book is not at all user-friendly as you can't keep the book open while listening to the CD or writing anything down. Very disappointing

Although it is quite complete and the audio-CDs are very helpful, it is unfortunately very dull. Living in our high-tech age, a coursebook in the 50's black and white style is rather unattractive. Besides, it was disappointing to discover that the pronunciation of basic letter combinations (e.g. sj) is wrongly explained at the very beginning of the book. However, if one is very determined, and perhaps older than 50 years of age, one will certainly learn well Swedish.

It's a really useful book for intermediate level. The kindle format on the fire works perfectly. Easy to navigate to the question/ answer pages. The audio is in-build in a really smart way so you can listen while reading, and turn the pages etc with the audio continuing in the background. Would highly recommend - and I hope for the next one, perhaps the advanced level now?

Having visited and recently bought a property in Sweden I decided it was time to learn the language. Having looked around for many tuition books etc I found this publication most interesting and valuable. coupled with the discs it has made learning much easier and hopefully lead me to converse correctly with the Swedish people. A huge thanks to Amazon.

The book is overall good but (here is the but!) It has some incredibly odd words l, why on earth is the word cesiumhalt (ceasium content) in a book for beginners. This is not a complaint I just feel its akin to duolingos random sentences like "the duck kills carrots on Wednesdays" its not that its wrong its just it feels odd when very weird terms you would never use in english or Swedish crop up.
