Easy to use and great rice every time
I've only used this to cook basmati rice so far, but it's really easy to use and works reliably to give great rice every time. There's only myself and my wife which is ideal, I don't think this would be suitable for a larger family, I'd say up to four people is OK. Easy to set up and easy to keep clean.

There's a reason this type of rice cooker is so popular
This is a great, low cost, no frills rice cooker, no settings to worry about, no electronics to go wrong (it's all done with magnets!). I cook rice in it a couple of times a week, my wife cooks quinoa in it about as often, I'll occasionally make porridge with it and every two or three weeks I'll do a delicious chorizo and prawn jambalaya in it. It handles everything perfectly, the rice is well cooked and fluffy and the non-stick surface is good quality making washing up an absolute breeze. It's the perfect size for one or two, able to cook little enough or more than enough for two or more if you have guests or want extra rice (for example to make a stir fry next day. There's two things that would make this even better, in my opinion, one is a few sample recipes for people starting out with it, and the second is a steamer basket, I've bought one separately but it wasn't quite the right size so I've had to 3D print an adaptor ring. (If anyone's interested, I make my jambalaya by heating up a little chorizo sausage in a small frying pan until it gives off it's oil, then frying off onions peppers and garlic in the oil toasting some Cajun seasoning and then adding a tablespoon of tomato puree and mixing. This is then transferred to the rice cooker with washed long grain rice and some frozen peas or sweetcorn, I use cooled chicken stock instead of water (1 1/2 times the rice by volume) and a pinch of salt. Mix well then cook as normal - ie press the button and wait! - once it's finished cooking stir in the prawns and leave it on warm for 10 minutes. Make sure everything, especially the prawns, is cooked through before eating and follow this recipe at your own risk, it's how I cook it but I take no responsibility for anyone else's results following it!)

Wow! So much better than I expected!
I decided to buy a ‘cheap & cheerful’ rice cooker to a) see if i’d actually use it and b) if they are any good, before splashing out on an expensive brand. I’ll probably stick with this one! It’s compact, attractive and far better quality than I expected. I cooked WAY too much rice the first time, filling the measuring pot for three people. I know better now. It’s very easy to use. Some like a 1:1 equal measure of rice to water - Macook recommends 1:1.2. I’d say try it and see, it depends on the rice. We are using Japanese short grain rice & Thai sticky rice and have done both ratios. I think the 1:1.2 was better in some ways as the rice wasn’t stuck together too much. It has a good capacity, a full pot (first use, too much) was more than 6 portions - for us anyhow. Wash out the pot. Rinse you rice til it runs clear. Put your measured amount into the pot followed by the water and switch on. It really is that easy. It will automatically switch from “cook” mode to “warm” mode and keep the rice at a good temperature. We steamed asparagus in the rack on top whilst cooking the rice and it was perfect. It’s a great rice cooker and looks very robust, durable. I expect to see a lit of use from this.

It's very delicate and looks great, but it takes a long time to cook rice.

Excellent rice cooker, compact & easy to use!
Excellent rice cooker, brilliant size too. It can make enough rice for 5 of us quite comfortably despite its size, and we usually just use the 1-cup line which makes enough rice for 2 of us as a side. The bowl is easy to clean, rice doesn't stick to it and the cooker heats up quickly too. Far better than using the microwave packets and it's easy to customise the rice as it cooks too.

No frills, easy and quick cooker, not just for rice
Basic rice cooker which works perfectly, it's an excellent size for 2 people, cooking a small portion for one meal and handles more for leftovers for another day. It can do other things too, not just rice. No frills, cheap and cheerful in bright yellow

Faulty model received?
I may have received a faulty cooker. Although the cooked rice was lovely and fluffy, the cooking temperature was far too high and the rice at the bottom was scorched, despite me checking it immediately after cooking had finished. The cooking liquid was boiling right up and starting to spill out of the lid. I am disappointed as it was the perfect size for us but I just found it not fit for purpose, so I am returning the item.

Exactly what I was looking for!
We spend a lot of time travelling and staying in hotels with the kids sport and we were getting sick of cooked breakfasts and spending a fortune on food. I bought this for in the hotels and so far I've cooked scrambled eggs, porridge, stir fries, pasta n sauce packets, super noodles, and reheated soups etc. So useful. Easy to clean. Lovely and compact and just enough for 1 adult 2 children. May get a larger one for when my husband and eldest come too.
