does the job it is intended to do.
i had a set similar to this about 40 years ago when i was in scouts. i think though then the set was more full sized, this set is about a 3/4 size of regular silverware. I bought it because it is sturdier than plastic and probably more useable than a spork for camping/backpacking. more importantly it is $6 rather than some over priced titanium spork at $20.it's made in China , so i question how good the stainless steel is, been very disappointed before in the quality of Chinese stainless steel.Time and use will be the test.

Camping utensils
I bought a couple of sets, one for my wife, for using on our camping trips. They pack up small and the size is acceptable. They seem durable enough as well.My wife has a hard time assembling them back together. There are a couple of things that I had issues with these:1. You'll never be able to assemble or disassemble these if your hands are wet. Your fingers will not be able to grip them well enough as you'll slide over the smooth metal.2. The plastic container they come in will not hold up very well. After a while the plastic will give out or split. It has a couple of slits in the back so you can hang this on your belt. It would probably do fine without those slits, as they are apt to catch on stuff. And who would put these on a belt anyway? These utensils do well enough for what they are intended for. No problems with bending. That's about it.

Sturdy Utensil Set
This is exactly what you'd expect after reading the description and reviews. The package accurately states the thickness: 1.5 mm. When the pieces are clipped together, the knife is slightly bent, acting as a spring to keep the unit from coming apart. The fork looks a little funny, with squared-off tines. They still work fine, or you can sharpen them to points if you like.As some reviews have noted, the carrying case is pretty flimsy; but that was a minor point for my purposes. Be careful when opening the package, though, as the transparent carrying case can easily be cut by mistake, along with the transparent plastic packaging material.

Flimsy and not as described
I was very disappointed in the quality of these utensil sets. I have had a similar set for years that was very heavy duty stainless steel, but these are quite thin and bend easily. The tines of both forks were bent, and one of the sets doesn't stay clipped together tightly. I easily straightened the tines but that also tells me that the forks won't hold up well to normal use. The product description says: "18 ga. thickness for superior strength and durability" - hardly accurate for steel you can bend with your fingers. The description also says "All pieces securely clip together on solid brass posts". The posts are not brass, but the same lightweight stainless steel. The fork is also much smaller than that shown - it does not extend beyond the spoon and knife when the set is clipped together.

Pretty much junk
The, (copper I think) studs that hold the knife and fork to the spoon had fallen off 2 of the 4 sets I order in the shipping. The utensils themselves about about half the size that the military issues and very thin. It says they are stainless steel but I dont know if that is exactly correct as they have a lot more shine than any stainless steel I've seen before. I wouldnt recommed these utensils for camping and I'll be replacing these before my next camping trip

Perfect
Whether you are a camper, a prepper, or a scout, this is the perfect set for when you leave the concrete. Everything locks together. It is stainless steel which makes it sturdier than aluminum and easy to clean. This item goes well with the Coleman Aluminum Mess Kit.

Great item for camping, survival kits, etc.
I've been using a set like this (advertised as 'from the East German Army') from a surplus catalog for 8+ years. This set is similar, save that the brass rivets are starting to lose their shape (you can try to correct them with a preening hammer or a chisel or needlenose pliers). I only use warm water and very diluted dishwashing fluid to wash them (by hand); not sure what happens in a dishwashing machine.
