Great Seat
My 4 month old dachshund pup loves this and there will be enough room for him to grow into it. It cleans easily and is quite nice. The bed cover needs to be hand dried after washing but that is no problem, it tends to shrink a bit. It keeps him safe and he doesn't go anywhere and he can see out the window. The legs don't stay folded up so it is high enough but by putting a small board across from one leg to the other keeps it open and nice, that is the only complaint I have ever seen about it. The best seat I tried and will keep it for sure. It has some storage under the seat as well and is easy to put in the car and stays put! Very very happy.

I searched for a seat that would give my 12 lb dog a good view of the outdoors while in the car
I purchased this seat 5+ years ago. I felt I needed to add my two cents because of the negative reviews. I searched for a seat that would give my 12 lb dog a good view of the outdoors while in the car. Most seats the dog sits down in the seat and it hangs from the car seat. This one is attached with the car seat belt...I like that. Do the legs collapse at times...yes...simple solution...a 2 x 4 cut and put underneath between the legs or a pillow between the legs...problem solved. Seat falling in...only if too much weight is placed on the seat...this is a no-brainer. I have never had the seat fall in with my dog on it. It fell in only once...and that was when I placed my hand on the seat and pushed down to lift myself up...not a good idea! If the dog is too heavy for the seat...then the dog is probably large enough to sit on the actual car seat and be belted in with a seat belt dog harness.I have a friend that is looking for a dog car seat. I recommended this one. I told her about the negative reviews, and reason for them. I also told her my solutions. She just ordered the seat.

My two small dogs are comfortable sharing this booster seat, but I am disappointed in the security of the legs.
During long drives, my two part-Chihuahua dogs were always strapped into the back seat of our car or were secured in a cage in the footwell of the back seat. (I will not permit them to be loose in the car, or to get anywhere near the driver's seat or floor area.) The dogs would frequently get carsick on a long drive or curving roads ... not nice! I purchased this Good Pet Stuff Travelin' Dog Pet Seat for them. (Guess what? Nobody has been carsick while riding in this booster seat.) Our first trip with this car seat was in my RV. The only place in the RV where I could properly anchor the booster was on the passenger seat in front. Since I was traveling alone on that trip, that worked well. The booster seat is anchored by the car seat belt. The belts that come with the booster keep the dogs on the seat. The foldable car seat legs can collapse inward or outward, tipping the car seat with the dogs on it. I placed a cut-to-fit piece of PVC pipe between the legs to prevent the legs from collapsing inward I also placed a bungee cord around the outside of the legs to keep the legs from flipping outward. A small pet blanket, their leash, and the little food dish that came with this car seat are stored in the space under the booster seat. The car seat elevates my small dogs so that they can see out of the front and side windows, even when they are lying down. I also use this booster in the back seat of my car. Because the car's back seat is lower than the front seat, it is a bit harder for the dogs to see out of the backseat than the front. My dogs (who weigh 8 pounds and 10 pounds) have room to sit or lie down comfortably on the car seat. They seem to enjoy being able to see out of the car. Both dogs appear to enjoy the booster. I enjoy being able to see what they are doing and knowing that they are okay. The ability to store a few small items under the seat is a plus. I would like the seat belt to include an option to secure a second dog. (I jury-rigged one.) For my purposes, this is the best pet booster seat that I have run across. The size is adequate for two small dogs. The height is appropriate for small animals. It is easy to install, once you figure out how to anchor the legs. The designers do need to find a way to brace the legs of the seat so that they neither collapse inward or outward. Otherwise, this is a good booster for a small dog or two.ONE YEAR LATER: I reduced my previous 4-star rating to a 3-star rating for the following reasons. The bungee cord that I was using to hold the seat legs together kept rolling upward, no longer preventing the legs from threatening to spread apart. The legs separated on two occasions, but that meant that my dogs were slipping sideways while I was driving. Once, when I leaned against the seat while I was strapping the dogs into the seat, the leg on the far side of the seat collapsed inward. (The PVC pipe that kept the legs separated had slipped downward., no longer preventing the legs from collapsing inward.) I began to feel that the seat legs might not hold in case of an auto accident. I have purchased another dog seat that is stronger (and much more expensive). I decided that I would keep this seat (The Good Pet Stuff Travelin' Dog Pet Seat) in the car that I use less often to transport the dogs. I put the new dog seat in the car that I use more often.

Dog loves it, once I figured out fixes for the design flaws.
As noted in other reviews, the legs collapse. This a particular problem if the seat you’re installing it in is not flat, such as a bucket seat or the door-side back seat. I’m using a curtain tension rod between the legs to brace them - easy peasy fix but I consider it a design fault the manufacturer should have found if indeed this seat was crash tested. Next problem: the plastic becomes pliable when left in a hot car. Went visiting and had to park the car in the sun for several hours. When I got back, the metal tether hook was scorching hot and I had to ice it before loading the dog. After a couple minutes driving, I look over and the seat bottom had totally collapsed into the storage space. Did I mention my Yorkie is only 10 lbs? I stopped to try to fix it but discovered the narrow lip it sits on in the storage compartment is completely stretched from the heat so that the seat no longer even touches the lip. I put a plastic food bowl in it temporarily to brace it. Will screw small wood strips to create a new lip for the seat to rest on while still allowing access to the compartment for inserting the seat belt. A cover thrown over the seat like what one would do for baby car seats might prevent the tether from getting so hot to the touch. Might also have prevented the seat from getting hot enough to be pliable, but not positive here in Texas heat. The padding is practically not existent, which my dog doesn’t care about until he tries to lay down. I will say it’s a snap to install or remove and the seat itself seems not to move at all (with the legs braced). Dog has plenty of room to stand, sit or lay. He can get tangled up in the tethers if I get out of the car even to gas up, so dog must be supervised at all times when tethered.

Pet seat
Fantastic but would have been nice to have a softer base for sear protection and also better cushion for dog

Expensive but SO worth it!!!
This is the BEST car seat EVER! I had one for my last Shih Tzu for 10 years. She passed away in September and I gave everything of hers away thinking I would never get another Dog. I did get another Shih Tzu and looked EVERYWHERE to replace this seat with no luck. Then I found it on Amazon.ca! :) WE love it because she is safe and SHE loves it because can see out the windows. The ONLY issue is that the legs keep falling in . We found a way around it last time by putting a small square cushion between the legs and it holds the seat steady. Wonderful product.

Legs Not As Sturdy as They Should Be
Bobby, my five year old Shih Tzu really enjoyed curling up in this seat and appeared very comfortable there. However apparently he's not always as calm as he needed to be in this seat because the legs collapsed quite easily. Once we addressed this flaw using sturdy supports to prevent the legs from collapsing, it worked quite well.

Overall good product that could be made better
I have had this seat before and needed to replace. It hasn't changed and though it works well with our small dog there are some problems:1. We don't use the legs as they collapse .2. Our dog drinks a lot and dish is well used but lid eventually breaks off 3. The straps pull out of buckles quite easily, need something to hold in place once adjusted to your dog.I like that it fits in back seat. I don't understand pet seat for front seat.
