Amazing!!!
I really liked this!!! I am half Bengali and am always looking for products that work for Bengali cuisine. This is a kit with a metallic pouch inside which has the spice blend, and you have to read the back - the do a nice job with different types of preparation and notes. 10/10 for the flavor, gave it a little twist with some chopped jalapeños while cooking. I don’t have an Instant Pot so I just made it regularly which was about half an hour end to end. Even though I’ve had similar things before, also appreciated the notes on the back explaining how to add things to make it complete. I had some potato chips already and got some mango chutney from the store to eat it with. Fire. I was not sure how much it would yield because a lot of things that say “2 servings” are really a single meal. It actually makes a lot which I was soo happy about, was about three normal meals for me. Looking forward to trying other flavors, I assume they will be good as well. I really like how the spices come in a pouch, and it’s easy to make. I’m going to recommend to my parents because they can bring it with them when they travel. FYI it looks sold out right now for me but it’s there on the official website if you’re seeing it sold out too. Thanks for making awesome Bengali food!! Please make more!!

Unique product, highly recommended.
We made dinner from this kit. It was very simple to put together and really yummy. You get the spice mix in a small gold packet, as well as the main ingredients. Please note - in the preparation they ask for an onion - so get an onion if you don’t have it on hand. We used one plain white onion. Then we cooked in olive oil and added the suggested salt. We had to first sauté the spices in the oil, then we added everything else. Then we let it cook on the stove, and it was ready. We ate it with mango chutney which was very good (bought at Whole Foods, “Brooklyn Delhi” is the brand). One kit was the perfect size for a very satisfying dinner for two, no leftovers!

Delicious & Easy
Very tasty, very easy to make – I’m not normally a home-cooker but a friend recommended this to me as something healthy and simple to change up my colorless food routine a little, and I was very pleasantly surprised. Even though I didn’t have an onion to put in. Highly recommended.

I love this stuff. Highly recommend.
My Ayurvedic nutritionist told me to incorporate khichdi (kitchari?) into my diet and then I found this. It’s really delicious and easy to make. The spices and flavors are perfect. I add lemon, fresh parsley, and some vegan butter to it, and it really pops. I like keeping it in my pantry when I want to eat something easy, fast, and healthy. Usually I do it for dinner, sometimes breakfast too. My Indian friend had it with me once too and said the flavors were really good. Spices looked and smelled very fresh which is why I think the flavor was so good. I love that I don't have to measure out the spices and buy them separately. FYI use scissors on the spice pouch, spices blow out if you yank it open aggressively... Overall awesome tasting, feels really nourishing, highly recommend.

Convenient, good value and fun for novice cooks who want to make Indian food
This was an easy recipe to make! As someone who is curious about making authentic Indian food but too intimidated to go from scratch, I thought this kitchari packet addressed both. I added lemon juice, veggies and some tofu as suggested. Also sprinkled a little cheese on top for additional flavor. It was delicious and I got three meals out of it!

Overpriced ...
You can buy varieties of lentils that come with this packet for far less money. The masala mix is a value-add, but even that is replicable with a few spices. So you are paying over $10 for the compilation and the packaging--not for the raw materials, that I would estimate would cost no more than 50 cents to a $1.

A good start, but underseasoned; no onion
This dal mix is a starting point for a very basic and delicious Indian dish. I can't handle heavily spiced Indian food, but this is too mild, even for me. I would definitely add cayenne as they suggested to give it some kick. The main thing I noticed, though, is that there is no onion. I recommend slicing onion up and down so that you have long strips of onion and then saute-ing them with the spices to get a more authentic tasting and looking dal. You might also look up a recipe online and add a few more spices. But I guess if you are doing all that, you may want to make it from scatch in the first place which isn't that hard. This is a servicable line of Indian food, but I think it's geared toward Americans who don't want a lot of spices and want something instant. Definitely better than McDonald's!

Healthy backup meal for busy days
This has been a very grownup alternative for making Kraft mac and cheese on the days that I feel like I don’t have anything to eat. Also, I love that it’s a good vege option. The total prep time is 30 minutes but the hands on 5 minutes part is awesome when in between meetings
