Great light-weight fountain pen paper for when you need more pages in less space.
Tomoe River paper is renowned for its thinness while still preventing bleed-through of fountain pen inks. I purchased this to make refills for my Midori Traveler's Notebook. It is beneficial in applications like that where you want minimal thickness to obtain maximum number of pages in a given space. There is also a unique aesthetic factor this paper provides with a bit of "crinkle" to the pages. This paper is similar to what you find in many bibles, where to use regular paper would make the book extremely thick. While this is listed as a "white" paper, it is really off-white. I would say "cream" would be a better description. Also, it is important to note that while this paper does a great job of preventing bleed-through (ink soaking through to opposite side) it does not fully prevent ghosting (ink showing through as a shadow). With its thinness there is just no way to prevent being able to see the text on the opposite side of the page. The amount of ghosting that occurs will differ depending on what you write with and the thickness of the writing instrument. I would say this is the paper's biggest limiting factor. I prefer to use a very fine or fine nib pen when I use this paper, to limit the see-through. Overall, it is great paper. One last thing for anyone who wonders, this paper CAN be used in a laser printer. I print lines on the pages I make for my notebook with no trouble. There is an occasional page with a crinkle in it, but I would say this happens less than 5% of the time - pretty impressive for such a thin paper. I didn't need to use a "lead-in" sheet or anything.

The best fountain pen paper
Thin, non-absorbent paper that’s perfect for shimmering/sheening inks and fountain pens in general. This paper is almost miraculously tough and resistant to bleed for such a light GSM. The paper is also very smooth, not velvet like Rhodia, but close, and personally I think it’s perfect.

Cult Following Well-Earned!
This paper. My goodness! I had no idea how paper could have a cult following until I found Tomoe River. So much about fountain pens is about optimizing your writing experience for your personal tastes. And this all starts with having the right surface upon which to write. Tomoe River paper is a very worthy candidate and lays the perfect foundation for success with your writing. The paper is longer than traditional printer paper and perhaps a bit skinnier if memory serves. This isn’t necessarily a detriment or a benefit—it all depends on what it is used for and your preference as the writer. I like the unusual dimensions of it. It gives it a special sense and distinguishes it from others. You’ll never have to guess which paper is the Tomoe River. It has this ultra smooth and soft finish. Almost a bit velvety, it’s so smooth. It is thinner than traditional printer paper, yet it holds up similarly, perhaps even better than, cheap copy paper despite being thinner. I also haven’t seen it bleed or feather. Granted, I have not subjected it to harsh experimentation, but if I do, I’ll do my best to update my review. It is also neat in that it is translucent enough to place over printed guidelines for calligraphy and to see and use them just fine, yet not to a distracting degree. When you take the paper off the guidelines, you don’t realize how translucent it is! What rare sorcery is this?!! Overall, I think it is absolutely exquisite paper worthy of a Queen. If you’ve fallen prey to the fountain pen addiction or are simply into good paper and an improved writing experience, you simply MUST give this paper a try to see what all the fuss is about. I suspect you’ll be just as thrilled as I am!

Tomoe River: the best
I write regularly with fountain pens, and this is the best paper I own. It is the lightest, thinnest paper that I have, but the best. There is never any bleed through. There is occasional faint ghosting. This paper is the best for showing the qualities of the particular ink that I might be using. Five stars

Fabulous paper for Fountain Pens!!
What wonderful paper! It is silky smooth, a lovely shade of white that sets off any shade of ink quite beautifully, and makes writing an absolute dream! If you are an aficionado of fountain pens look no further, as this paper will make your hand simply blaze across the page! It’s worth every penny, friends!

Ink renders beautifully, but writing experience is somewhat scratchy
Shows sheen and shading on ink rather nicely, and it's very thin, which makes it great for use in a pocket notebook. But the texture is surprisingly... rough? It feels almost scratchy writing on this (cf., e.g., the very smooth + beautiful Iroful paper), though you'd never guess from the written lines because they look so nice. I can't argue with the results, but I wish the writing experience was a bit smoother.

Great paper for my fountain pens
This paper worked really well for my fountain pens. I am using a Namiki maki-e fountain pen, and a Lamy Al-Star fountain pen. The paper doesn’t bleed through or feather. Writing is smooth with both pens. Was so happy with the paper that I got the same paper in a cream color too.

If you are a fountain pen enthusiast then Tomoe River paper will not be new for you. It is regarded as the #1 paper for writing on with fountain pens. It is the paper against which all others are compared to.

Beautiful, thin and smooth paper. Almost doesn't feel real. The pen glides over the paper and the ink doesn't soak through

Tomoe River paper is absolutely FABULOUS to work with, I am a mixed media artist who uses a lot of watercolor. It does not bleed through, very strong, and has a deliciously "crunchy" sound as you move the pages. It results in artwork that is really interesting as the paper takes art supplies beautifully. I usually buy the paper in journals but I was lucky enough to find these loose leaf papers!! SO HANDY!! Thanks for a wonderful product, will buy again.

Franchement horrible.
