They are really good and firm soldiers who can really take a beating!!!

In terms of attention to detail the military uniform has been suitably done, with all the men wearing the usual ankle boots. The men mostly wear the steel helmet, as might be expected in combat situations; however, there is also the peaked field cap on some the selection. The military kit is equally light, but is correctly modelled as far as it goes. Both riflemen and those carrying machine guns have the correct ammunition pouches for their weapons. With the weapons mentioned above there is the mortar group already mentioned, a heavier machine gun (an MG34) and a flame-thrower. There is also a man carrying a land mine, of which a great many were laid during the desert campaign. Just about all Italeri figures are in the same style, which may be because they all had the same sculptor, or perhaps there was just a unbending set of criteria set by the company. Consequently these figures look very similar to the German Soldiers set, with the inclusion of the field cap and shorts being the only way of telling these apart. The poses are OK but a little stiff, but they cannot be faulted in the standard of detail. In short, perfectly solid effort that any war gamer or any toy soldier war painter could be happy with.

Great set, this was a little masterpiece at the time of its first release as ESCI, Italeri reproduced it with the same accuracy and it still stands well among less seasoned releases of the same important subject. I would have liked more variety for the poses but I think is still a nicely done set which blends well with other products I bought from other manufacturers.
