We were doing a bathroom remodel and needed this under the tile. All the other places that we looked had insane prices. This is the same product for half the price. Came in in a timely fashion and did what it was supposed to do. Excellent deal.

Great idea, but not comfortable with the durability of the install. The thin set mortar used to install it did not appear to hold it in place very well. and in the corner where the shower entry stoop was, I ended up with 2 overlapping layers which created a lot of bulk and made it harder to keep the tiles even. On the walls, even after completely covering the wall with thin set mortar and rolling it out carefully and evenly there were still air bubbles that I had to work out and places where the membrane did not properly adhere making me wonder if the tile will just fall off the wall. (I used waterproof backerboard). I also coated all of the membrane seams with Aqua defense because I used extra aqua defense on the seams, to ensure water did not get through the seams.

Don’t be fooled by the affordable pricing on this product. Yes, the top main brand on the market is pricy and as of late seems to have gone through the roof with their offering.BUTI have not had any issues or recalls with the real Kerdi membrane. It feels and is a 20mil product. If you are waterproofing your shower, this is the one the use! I am a contractor and have done tile work for well over two decades now. Trust me when I say this.The bargain priced membrane on the other hand feels less quality. Its less thick even without measuring it. My wife can easily tear it apart without even trying. The Kerdi won’t let you do that. Two burly man can hold onto it while trying to tear it apart. It just won’t. It requires a sharp blade to cut and even then you still have to “fight”.Trust me, you don’t want to use this bargain membrane for your new custom shower only to find out that soon after finishing it, he membrane tears below the tile for whatever reason and your shower starts leaking. You know what that means at that point.Spend the money on the market leaders product and you get your piece of mind.

We all know the big name in the membrane space and if you've worked with those membranes that have the initials S-K then you'll be comfortable with this one. The weight and fleece feels about the same and it is very similar to work with. Look up online videos on Schluter-Kerdi and you can use those techniques with this membrane. It sticks and hangs the same (and remember to use UNMODIFIED mortar everybody!)Several comments focused on the thickness so I measured mine and found it to be right about 17 mils (see photo). That's not bad at all, and the price (at least at the time of this writing) is a huge discount over the name brand.

This was easy to put up and I had no trouble putting adhesive tiles over it. We'll see if it's effective when the wall stays up behind it or rots away...

Works very well for sealing the corners in the shower to prevent water damage.

I ordered the Waterproof Membrane for Shower 3.3 ft x 98.5 ft / 323 Square Feet Waterproofing Membrane 16mil Thickness, because we are in the middle of remodeling our ranch house. We are incorporating a lot of tile and faux rock in the house. This is good quality membrane at a very reasonable cost. Its definitely cheaper then what's normally available at the big box stores. I checked the thickness with my digital caliper and its 16 mil alright. We expect to be able to use this in several jobs on our home and probably the outdoor sauna as well. Just a general caution when using this kind of membrane, that you have to work at getting it flat and even, by working out any high spots. I haven't installed any of this yet, but can tell by experience that this will adhere to the wall and tile well, and will last a long time. it's easy to use and can be cut easily with scissors or a box cutter. I’m very happy with this.
