Q: question - does anyone know if this is that chemical treatment (smells a bit like rotten eggs) that is a "no rub" silver cleaner?

It is not. You will have to rub to get your silver clean.

Q: after using this to protect my silverware from tarnish, do I need to wash off the residutal product before actually eating off them?

This is not necessarily the manufacturers recommendation. But this is how I‘ve kept my silver clean and polished for years. I use my silver plated flatware every day. 1. wash the silver in hot soapy water. 2. Use a soft cloth with the silver polish to clean the silver. 3. Back in the hot soap water 4. Dry and polish with a soft dry cloth. 5. Store in a protective case or not as good but works nearly as well: I lined my silverware drawer with Pacific cloth. Using silver regularly and washing with hot soapy water cuts down on the polishing. I only polish my flatware about twice a year. But again this is my personal technique. However, I would not leave any residue from the polish on the silver.

Q: Do know if this will bring up a Nickle plated antique stove ??

Yes, Hagerty silver polish works on any sterling silver, including jewelry.

Q: Will this remove the blackened patina from my antique silver?

I accidentally spilled bleach on my Tiffany silver bracelet which immediately turned black. This silver polish removed all the black. I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. However, I would test on the back first.
