Zero stars
This is one of the most judgmental things (books, people, etc) that I have ever come across. A completely unforgiving all or nothing take on breastfeeding in a world where we need a bit more flexibility and grace. If you want to feel bad about yourself (not being able to breastfeed right away due to a difficult and complicated birth and postpartum illness, considering weaning before your child is 4 years old, needing to go back to work and pump, etc), then feel free to go down the anxiety rabbit hole that is this book. The most useless thing I purchased in anticipation of having my baby. You’re much better off using kellymom.com and other resources online, or mom friends! Be kind to yourself and don’t buy this book.

Excellent book, useful and easy to reference at 3am
This is the only nursing book you need. Every breastfeeding relationship is different, and even with my 2nd child this has been so helpful. It's easy to use at 3am when you just need an answer and want to find it in 30 secs or less. This book is organized in a helpful and useful way and definitely worth the purchase.I bought the previous edition used off eBay with my first child a few years ago. I recently gave that one away to a friend who was struggling to nurse her preemie, and immediately bought this new edition (as I was 8mo pregnant at the time).

A tad condescending when what we need is support
Has good information related to the physical act of breastfeeding, but it pushes the “all-natural” methods of birth and breastfeeding a little too strongly for my taste. It has contradictory information and can come off a little condescending instead of remaining general to apply to all moms in all different situations. Don’t feel discouraged or stressed due to this unnecessary pressure, just pick out the good info you need and move forward.

Great reference, but judgmental tone probably a dealbreaker for most
A superb desk reference, answers basically every question you might have about breastfeeding - guidance for all ages, a list of the most commonly used pumps, etc. However, it has the issue many books of this kind have - lack of a supportive tone. Many times it’s implied if you don’t do things this way or that way specifically - you’re not committed enough to nursing and your supply will probably drop. Every mother is different, as is every baby, the rights and wrongs may vary across the board and there’s no one correct answer to everything. This judgmental tone can be very anxiety inducing for new parents. Otherwise great resource, probably the only breastfeeding book I occasionally still reference.

This Mother of 7's Favorite
My OB/GYN gave me this book when my first child was born in 1990. It is different than other books. It is a book that you CAN read cover to cover, but it has sections that deal with each bump in the breastfeeding road, problem solving, and infant age-specific chapters. It gives general information and how-to's, then gets right into the trouble shooting: Feeling pain while feeding? Struggling in the first two weeks of baby's life? Baby is fussy? Baby isn't latching on? Have twins? Body shape concern? Feeling engorged? My original copy fell apart as I re-read and referenced issues for each of my babies. I gave a copy to two of my pregnant daughters, now I am getting another for a third daughter. This is formatted much better then any of the other books I have had/seen. Sooo very helpful.

Must have for all nursing mothers!
I nursed all three of my children and this book was my go-to resource! It will help you through the rough times and give you reassurance when you get feedback from other people who aren't as supportive when it comes to nursing.

Must have for nursing moms
So helpful for nursing mothers. Gives you a look at what each stage of nursing is going to be like, as well as typical issues that arise. I refer back to this all the time. Great gift for new moms.

Great reference book with lots of info
Really quick and easy read; I finished skimming the whole book in a day. I will definitely be keeping this in the nursery for quick reference!I already took a breastfeeding class and our instructor actually recommended this book. It covers everything learned in class and more. I would highly recommend to any parent to be!

Can find most information online
Bought this during pregnancy with great intentions. The book was useful and did have good information but i personally got bored half way through. All the info you can find online free anyway but im sure if i read it all it probably would have been better and easy to put post its on certain pages to return to, i done a breast feeding class and all the information was relayed in that

Best for 1st time moms
I personally love how well written and helpful this book is. As a first time mom, and far away from family who can give you tips or help... This book will help you tons. It is of course all the information you find online, BUT in one single book. Even now when my milk supply is good, there is a good latch and we are far away from the crazy beginning of lactation, I find myself reading again, información which I keep finding interstesting and mega helpful.

Asset for all FTMs!
Almost halfway through this book and 7 months pregnant. So far definitely helpful! I appreciate the lack of repetition you usually find in these sorts of books. Definitely an asset for first time moms wanting to prepare themselves for their journey into motherhood and breastfeeding
