This item is advertised as "one piece design that will not fall apart" - when I removed it from its box the handle had already fallen off, so clearly not a one piece design. Inside the hollow handle there was a rusty nut, used to attach the handle, so not entirely stainless steel either. I'm returning for a refund.

had it for 5 weeks, all the groves are now flat. no chance of sharpening the knives. waste of money.as you can see. the only bit of ridge left is by the handle. the rest is flat as a pancake. metal far too soft

I purchased a Granton knife at a second hand shop in great condition except it needed to be sharpened. The inscription on the blade reads to sharpen with a steel. I did not have one so I ordered your steel. It sharpened the Granton knife very well, it is a size I can easily handle it fits in my kitchen drawer. I put the steel in a plastic sheath to protect it in the drawer.Perfect for my needs. Also gives a nice sharp edge to all my other knives especially those little pary knives.

I have a 2 chef's knives - one about 3 years old (never been sharpened before) and a brand new one - and a paring knife. I was worried I'd do it wrong, so I looked up a few youtube videos before starting. It didn't do anything for the old chef's knife, and I'm fairly certain it blunted my new chef's knife. As for the paring knife, I'm fairly certain it has more than a few scratches on the edge of the blade, because when I cut tofu, it now bites the sides of the tofu tearing it apart. I used the tofu to see if the knife edges were any smoother - they were not.Would change my review if they could tell me what I was doing wrong, or rectifying in some other manner. So far, cannot recommend!

My grandfather told me that the proper way to use a butcher's steel is to hold it firmly in your left hand and drop it in the garbage. Still he used one every day. The trick is to get the angle absolutely consistent with every pass and spend enough time. I have been able to get even 440 stainless steel pocket knives (Carbon steel is easier but doesn't hold an edge as long) so sharp they will shave the hair off of my arm. This is a great produce.

This is made of soft steel that does more harm than good.It should be hard as a file, but instead the knife digs in and with one swipe is very dull

My boat has a nice galley, but the knives needed TLC. This "steel", traditional in design but executed in stainless, is pefect.It will not rust, and it is an excellent sharpener. It slips easily into a utensil drawer.
