good quality, good price, would buy it again
i purchased this on 11/15/14 for $10.68 Prime from PetsTek. my review is closely connected to the quality of the item relative to the price paid for it, which is why i include the information in my review. the item is exactly as shown in the picture with two flat sides, and holds almost exactly half a gallon. the glass is smooth, not textured. i purchased it to ozonate olive oil in, as i read in an article by dr. lawrence wilson that this fishbowl shape that rounds up to a lip will prevent the oil from bubbling out when it foams, as before the foam reaches the opening it falls back into the bowl. it served the purpose well, and i will probably use it for different things, but never for a little fish, because i would want a fish to have more space than this to swim around in.

Too Small
Its really cute but definitely too small. A bought a gold fish for this Bowl and it died after less than 2 weeks from how small it is...

DRUM SHAPED, REAL GLASS
First this is DRUM SHAPED, the pictures are hard to see that. It is GLASS real glass. So many products like this are some form of plastic. YES it costs more, but for me the plastic ones are not for long term use.

Fine for Temporary Situation
This small 1/2 gallon bowl is my Betta’s temporary apartment when I clean his larger 2 gallon fishbowl. So the most time he spends in it is 8-12 hours – I bring him to my desk when I’m working there because he craves lot of attention. The glass quality is not excellent, some flaws here and there, but it doesn’t compromise viewing too much. I’m setting up a 10 gallon aquarium with a heater where my Betta will be much happier. Really, they shouldn’t live in anything smaller than 3 gallons. Please be kind to your fish... this 1/2 gallon bowl should only be used as temporary digs.

Distorted view .
This Anchor Hocking Goldfish Bowl - Drum - 0.5 gal ,is made from thick durable glass .It arrived well packed in double bubble wrap .It is intended as a small terrarium for plants only .UPDATE : After items were placed in this bowl it is very obviousthat both flat sides are warped and so there is much viewing distortion .The longer this I have this thing the more irritating the distortion is .As a child I had a goldfish bowl and I do not remember any distortion .I will probably replace it with a plastic version .This item is a disgrace if made in the USA !

This came in the shape of a vase but I needed a fishbowl that day so I kept it. Quality good but not as advertised even in the slightest
